The air thing is done by many people to get more oil out of the valve train and ducts. While it does actually work on many engines (Mini would be included), it also leaves the engine dryer for the startup (although on the Mini you are pouring onto the valve train anyway, and you really end up flooding it with the new oil.
In the end it is probably one of those things that won't hurt, but won't really help. One of those sleeping dogs that I leave alone.

I'm still trying to figure out how one would "Flush the inside of the engine with pressurized air." I can't find the fitting on the engine to do that. It sort of reminds me of the hillbilly advice to mix a handful of sand in the first oil in a newly rebuilt engine to help mate the parts. Don't rev it though...
I like TurboDaves advice.
I think it is to blow all the sand and crap out along with all the gaskeets and seals. Makes it easier to dismantle the engine for the rebuild. (...a waste of good air IMHO.)
.

It is actually customary here for many people to do something like that, to varying degrees. One guy even told me the secret to a long engine life was to fill the crankcase with laundry detergent and water after the first diesel rinse. That way he is able to get 50,000 km out of en engine before a repair.
Diesel is very thin, does not lubricate much, eats seals. Your cheap oil will have about 20% circulating in it. The good oil will then have 20% of 20% (4% diesel).
If you have enough sludge to dislodge that way, it can get stuck in the passages and clog them. I've seen that a lot.
Oil drains should be done with the oil as hot as possible (without burning yourself). IFF you have a deposit or sludge problem, add a bottle of AutoRx for a it's cleaning and rinse cycles. It will slowly clean it up over a few thousand miles using group V synthetic oil in it's formulation as a solvent. I like to use my version of it ebout every 50,000 miles. Do not use their "maintenance dose".
And never buy cheap oil unless you have too much money. Cheap oil is the most expensive thing you can buy.

Until he does, he has zero cedibility.

Does custard powder really count:
Bird's Custard Powder is made and served in millions of homes where proper custard is at the heart of a good pud. Add a spoonful to Bird's Custard Powder to pancake mix to give pancakes a delicious creamy custardy flavor. Bird's is the original custard brand, established in 1837 and loved by generations ever since.
I guess so when calling custard...seems sort of like Jello pudding, but that should work in this case.
Oh and Bird's is available at select Walmart stores.

Not sure that applies in this case..

tip: do you have and old classic mini and you want to clean the inside of the motor but do not want to take it apart, basically you want to do an aggressive engine flush.
what i did: i let the car sit in the garage for 2 days, i then drained the oil, put the drain plug back and pour 5 liters of diesel fuel. i turn the engine on for 2 minutes, DO NOT REV IT !!!, turn off the engine and let it sit for 24hrs.,, after 24hrs, turn the engine on for 3 minutes and drain the diesel fuel., flush the inside the engine with pressurized air, use compressor if you have one. get some el cheapo motor oil from 99 cents(5 liters) pour it inside the engine then drive the car for 10 miles.,...drain the cheap motor oil then pour some 5 liter good quality motor oil.,,then you're good to go.
you'll notice the fresh diesel fuel will turn blackish tar, that's all the sludge deposit over time... yawk!!
again, this is an aggressive engine flushing...kids don't try this at home., ..only for professional.

Custard.
I too, call custard.
It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

This is bad advice. Change your oil regularly.
thorty is new , maybe he hasn't even know how to wrench.
knowledge is power thorty.
Once again you show how little you know. I've been part of the mini community for over ten years. I own several minis including my daily driver that I built myself. You are a parasite on this forum.
