Sell them. Get the cash and start fresh. Buy a nice runner and have fun. The cost to ship them, store them, with all the other stuff of moving and job. You'll be happier in the long run.

Keep them both - Seattle has one of the Worlds greatest Mini Gurus as a resident.

If Chuck Heleker can't help and inspire you then no-one can.

Good call!

In the past year I have moved, taken on a new position at work and my wife and I had a child. Talk about life changes!

Through that all, spending any free time on the Mini has been the only thing that takes my mind off stress and life. Don't look at the projects as another item on the To-Do list, enjoy the process and you'll be glad you kept them

Congrats on the new Job.

Seattle is such an amazing city/area of the country.  One of my favorites by far.

I hear Seattle has a pretty great Classic Mini scene so that will be helpful when you get there. I would keep at least the one car that you are trying to rebuild and strip down the 2nd car of all it's useful bits and box them up then decide what to do with the remainder of the car you have left. That way you have all the useful pieces and don't feel bogged down with two non-runners.

My '74 has worked it's way into all future plans my partner and I have if we decided to move.  It's pretty much non-negotiable!

Things to consider: 1) New job... you will get a little tied up with you new job, naturally you will tend to think less of rebuilding a mini, i mean two minis 2)House hunting... it is not easy, hunting a perfect house for the family while tagging along two undriveable minis(talking about excess baggages),you will eventually put the mini as your last priority, and as time flies, it sits in a 200% humid garage while the rust attacks it. 3) Weather wise... on my geography class my teacher told me that it rains 8 days a week in Seattle, so go figure, ..you need a stainless body mini if you plan to live in seattle. 4)Passion... but then, if you leave your mini behind, you will end up thinking about it all day all night, and regret that you didn't haul it with you... ...so my advice,,,bring the two minis with you,and continue living your life long passion....good luck!

Yep - keep both of them.  The damage can always be repaired (heck, drop one off at Dan's place in Oklahoma City on your way up north ( - f*cking emoticons pop up all the time) to sort out the damaged panels - it's not like it needs to be done tomorrow anyways.  Then you're only dragging one up north and you can pop down sometime and pick up the mini when it's sorted.

If you sell them now, you won't get much for them as to what you'd get if they were fixed, especially when you think of all those vultures, sharks and parasites that want to strip your bones.  It'd be an insult to you to sell them for a fraction of what you've put into them, and won't necessarily cost too much to get them going again - at least not one of them.

SnakeFart! where ya been?
Congrats on new job.

I'd vote for "box-em-up and ship 'em." You know you have the Mini disease, so you know you will be needing that stuff. Maybe strip the damaged mini of all usefull stuff and pile it in or around the '72 in a trailer or container.

Hello everyone and long time no see to my old friends.

Life is crazy how much it can change overnight and things tend to pile up. So instead of wondering if I need to make a long drawn out post about what I have done and have not done, I will make a quick post with the most important question.

I have a great new job and they have asked me to move from Houston, TX to Seattle, WA. I was in the process of rebuilding my '72 Leyland with a full swap from a nicely equipped damaged '70's-ish saloon. The damaged mini was hit in the rear and the rear uni-body is beyond my repair skill (body work) So swapping everything from the damaged one to the structurally sound one was the plan. Since the '72 was my first car it hold a certain value in my heart.

However new state, new job, new life and maybe it's time to start anew.

So with that being said, if you were in my shoes just as a general question, would you mess with hauling around 2 non-drivable minis a long way to a new area and then try to find time to continue while dealing with the stress of buying a new house and learning the new area.

Help me MiniMania, you're my only hope.

Think. Feel. SnakeFart.
