Thanks! Where did you find that Bosch 15729 will fit on a Mini Rover 1992?

Bosch 15729 Oxygen Sensor, Universal Type Fitment

If these are not correct, please let me know. I think shipping from ebay to Canada can be an issue if the seller is not careful.
Autozone also has them.

I have purchased 4.9 wide band sensors from ebay that were listed as Bosch, but had no markings part numbers, batch numbers etc.
So buyer beware

With this being a special order part from the host:
There are other UK Mini vendors that ship quickly that would get you the correct part with the correct connector.
Adapting the universal Bosch version using the pigtail from the existing sensor would be more expedient and as mentioned probably last a long time.
I am guessing that the emissions test was not passed.

I changed the coolant temperature sensor few weeks ago. I went for my emission test yesterday. HC (ppm): 347; CO (%) 7.3; Dilution %: 17,4. My next step is to change my O2 sensor. I would prefer taking one that is readily available.

For almost double the price I would try the aftermarket version.
But as noted above you can get the Bosch version.
How have you determined that your sensor is bad? You need a code reader to really evaluate it.
Although today after your test, you will have more information.

Thanks for you advice. I'll go with a sensor that is readily available. Would you trust the after market one from Minispares or go with an original equipment one?

with a little time and effort , soldering and heat shrink will outlast a different mini part failure. leave alot of the original wiring and cut from the new O2 side. O2 sensors is an expendable commodity.

If I lived where the fuel was awful and oxygen sensors had a short life I would replace the sensor, wiring and the actual plug on the Rover harness with an item that was reliable and readily available, with my goal being to do the whole thing right the first time. Splicing a universal sensor into the pigtail coming out of the old sensor might be fine for most people. Heat shrink crimp connectors staggered and then protected by a heat protection sleeve saved from another project would probably be OK for a long time. Actually dismantling the plug on the original sensor, withdrawing the terminals and carefully swapping them over to the new wires would be a better solution, but that does not give you the sort of road trip fix anywhere ability of a Chevy sensor. Not that I know of a specific GM sensor that comes with a great heat shield and plug assembly. But that would be my goal.

So if using one of these universal fit connectors, what is the best way to connect, crimp, solder and heatshrink or waterproof insulated crimp connector?

I'm going for my emission test tomorrow. I'll let you know the result. If I change the Lambda Oxygen Sensor, which one would you recommend me to get? Mini Sport sells an after market part at £52.24 (£47.00 at Mini Spares) and a genuine original specification part at
£96.50. Is there a difference between both? Thanks!

See if it takes a copper washer or similar to seal it or just remove it completely and plug the hole.

Thanks for the input. It seems that there is a leak on that heat sensor as there is a mark of black smoke at its edge...
