Thanks for the free ride from Cherokee! You know I'll never leave, I'm just going for some fresh cheese. The cheese you were cutting on the way back from the Mini 53 was old and stale.... Actually that's what made me want to move out... (great pic!)

Our traveler was found in the mini. We named him "Guido".

Don't know about the Pendejos as some of the locals involved would probably not take to the name too kindly. Our sense of humor sometimes does not ring a bell with part of the community. I can tell you we are advancing with the idea of a CMU branch in Miami and have talked to some people who are highly interested in getting it up and running.
I am presently on assignment in DC and from here I am going to New York, Chicago, Seattle and San Antonio. Once this is over and I am back in Miami I'll re-take the subject. It was great seeing all of you. The event was great and kudos are in order for Mike, Rob, Rhonnie and those who organized the great drives we had. I am hoping we can have an event in Miami once the summer is over and probably another one in the Cocoa Beach area before the end of the year would not be a bad idea also.

The Classic Mini Pendejos! I'm pretty sure that name has not been taken yet, LOL....
Yet another shirt to wear. We'll have Numpties and Pendejos everywhere... Idiots in any language!

Malcolm, that is too good, I'll tell Joe, he's the moving force in this.

Peter, pendejos sounds like a good name for the Miami guys chapter of CMU along the same lines as the Numpties in TN, good to see you guys again and make Joe happy delivering his auto transmission from Jim.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Thanks to all that organized this event and specially to the drive leaders.  You guys picked out some cool drives.  After 2,000 miles I'm still driving the Mini as an everyday car.  I guess the Jeep is jealous it didn't go!  Anyway, all the local classic guys are saying 'Yeah, next year , for sure!  " we'll see, these pendejos said the same thing last time   Even bought some stuff at the swap meet.

Maybe the videos will seal the deal for them.

The auction was a huge success thanks to the MANY members that brought things. dooder, I'll call you tonight with the info and a BIG thanks! I've been hiding and sleeping for the past week. We just finished unloading the truck!!!! The event itself was simply amazing. I can't imagine why anybody that likes to drive their Mini would miss a CMU event, other than being wayyyyy to far away or when life gets in the way. Even a couple came from the UK and had a blast riding with others...

THANK YOU to everybody that came and made this the greatest Mini event before the world ends. But if it doesn't end in December, there might be 2 CMU events next year instead of one.

I'm loving the videos and pictures, I guess I'll start looking at mine. There are some nice still shots at the Drag-on, since we have to go so slow now!!! A new CMU sticker... 318 curves, 11 miles, 30mph, police radar, a real Drag-on.

So I offered these two art prints to the auction at mini 53. Does anyone know who ended up with them?

Just to let everyone know, these are one of a kind art prints. One is 30" and the other 20". They are printed on 100% acid free, museum quality heavy art paper.

These are the first of a new line of art prints I will be offering soon. The larger size will list for $120.00 and the small size prints will list at $80.00 when they go into a very limited edition printing. Any of the minis on the larger combo print can be produced as an individual art print.

Yup a wasted throw out bearing makes some nasty noises. Going to be dealing with that next week. Concidering I only had the mini a month before the event and I am still working out some bugs I am very happy with how it did. Made the climb up the mountain from gatlinburg to the top once with the parking brake on (big OOPS) and it still pulled strong.

Here's at least one of the outside of your car, and evidence that despite the noises it was running well enough to climb some little hills:

Had a great time. Saw some familiar faces and met a bunch of new people. It was London the dogs first big social event. He was a little freaked out by the crowds at first but by the end of the weekend he was starting to relax. I dont thinl many people took pics of my mini but London must have had his picture taken 100 times.

Looking forward to the next great event.

Hi NJ,

Yes, the accordion I played at the Mini 53 was the one that I bought from the proceeds of the sale of our 1959 Bond Mini Car Mark F to Bruce Weiner at his bubble car museum in Madison Ga.  It is now retired there.  It was a cute car, but not really that driveable for where we live....a bit underpowered and quite warm for the Florida climate.  I hope that you all enjoyed my renditions of Kawliga, Indian Outlaw and Cherokke People with a mini twist.  I have had a couple of requests for recording, so will try and get them on youtube. Stay " tuned" for that.

Quite funny that you would be there at that Micro show and remember that car.  I would say that "It's a Small World" after all !   Sounds like another Mini song coming on......

Hope to CU at the next big mini gathering.

Celia

Celia,

Sorry I scared you when I feigned sitting on the pelican(?). By any chance was the accordion you played at Mini53 the one you bought with the proceeds of your Bond sale?

I was there when you said how happy you were that Bruce bought your car so you could buy another accordion.

(I confess that to non players the idea of "another" one is a bit foreign, but some people have more than one LBC, right? So....). Just curious.

Hi CMU Mini 53'ers !

We had a great time at the Cherokee Mini tribe gathering. Great to meet up with you all.  Super group of folks and fun cars.  Many Many Many thanks to the organizers of this auspicious event.  It has been quite a few years since we have been in the Mini scene and it is good to see that it is still active and fun.

A testament to the Mini car world when you can drive your old car to an event and not have to baby it so much.  According to our records our Moke went 1,607 miles for the trip....about 620 miles each way straight through (17 hours up and 16 back) and the cruises with hardly a problem.  Did have to replace the brake light switch, so thanks to all who have a great supply of spare parts and expertise to keep us all happy motorers.

Looking forward to the next time!! Y'all come see us in Merritt Island some time!

Celia and Shaye
