For someone from the Northwet, memories of many of the Mini enthusiasts from the far south & east are from fleeting encounters, such as MMEMW in Rockford and MMEs in Magog & Frederick and postings to this community site.
My condolences to NJ's family and friends.

Didn't know he lived in the same city as I, thought he was from Norcross. But that's the only place I personally met, at two car shows. I have a picture of him with his mohawk hat somewhere. Sad to hear this.

Thinking of how we meet people, when we are supposed to. Glad I got to meet NJ, through Howard and Neil, down at the mini 50 my first mini meet. He acted like he had known me as long as those other two Scaleywags!
He was an interesting Fellow, and I enjoyed listening to his stories on the few occasions I was around him. Even though I dont drink, it was Good to have a beer with him. I would have to say although he is gone too quickly, he
seemed to have lived a full life inthe years he was here. I wish I had know him better.

Al - that "event" took place on the trip up to MMEMW in Rockford, Illinois in 2004. In this picture from the event, Geoff Lotman (a Sprite guy, but friend of all things LBC) commiserates with NJ as he seems to be trying to envision where the f*&$ that wheel ended up. That event was a great party...can't you tell by NJ's glee?

NJ was heading up 1-81 on his way to a mini meet East event & somehow at speed his left rear wheel departed the mini, never to be seen again, although he searched up and down the median and told everyone the story and asked them to keep looking if they were ever on that stretch of road- When he did arrive at the show, there he was, his spotless mini, 13" mini lites all 3 of them and one black steel rim , just ugly- He felt terrible, his pride was hurt so, l went to my motor home and brought back a union jack flag about 2x3 feet and draped it over his spare wheel-It looked real good and people looking at his car just weren't sure what it signified but it did the job-
I never let him forget the missing wheel incident until last summer when l posted here that l would never again mention it & l kept my word until now- R.I.P. my friend-

NJ was a truly special and unique person. I always enjoyed talking to him and trying to keep one step ahead of his arrow sharp wit and humor. He taught me to slow down and enjoy the fun things in life as they came along. He and his "band of brothers" were one of the big reasons I attended Mini events. More than anything, he showed me that it is about the people-no matter what they drive- and not just the cars. Eric

Very sad to hear of another Mini Great's loss. I never met N.J. or COSMOWOG but felt like I knew them somewhat through all their helpful posts.
N.J. was always willing to help, had great knowledge and insight, a great sarcastic sense of humor, and he was never afraid to tell the truth. I know I will miss him posting on this site. I'm so sorry for the lose to those of you who had the chance to know him in person. Condolences to all family and friends.

Aside from having a great car and sparkling wit, NJ was one of the parking-lot Maestros who could sit in the shade all afternoon & evening sipping a beverage or three while talking bollocks till the cows came home.
He may well have been front & centre when the tee-total Clown split his head open on a beercan...
He will be missed.
