ONE week on the really old & 'rusted beyond belief' proportioning valve doesn't look much better...so back in the bath.

The NOS (but used) valve that shared the bath looks good but the shuttle valve is not completely free, so I added it to the separate bath with the other NOS (but used) valve that actually looks pretty good after just a few day.

Note - yellow zap straps ID matched pcs.

So stand by for bits to come out again on April 22nd.

Couldn't wait, so I put the 2nd NOS (but used) brake proportioning valve in 3/1 water/molasses bath today.  Ball had a little corrosion as did chamber & shuttle valve assembly.  A week should do it. (2/3 cup of molasses/2 cups water & stir)

Also a photo of 4 litres (3.8 litres = 1 US Gallon) molasses jug from farm co-op.  $7.99 only the 2nd 'gallon' of molasses I've bought.  Done 1 block, 2 heads, Cooper S header, and now on 4th brake proportioning valve.

NOTE: machine shop got 1275 block pretty clean but not the heads so much (even after 2nd cleaning) so they all went into 3/1 water/molasses bath.

 Ha ha Todd,

Shell was Walnut blasted more than 12 years ago and some steel work was started before I took over the project.  The Walnut had effectively reduced the front floors and sills into ports for pavement viewing.

Stored on a rack in my garaged, the shell gathered NO rust from spring 2004 to December 1st, 2015 when we started on the steel.

We did all the steel work and took the result for glass bead blasting before epoxy primer.

2nd new old stock proportioning valve also old but not unused...it will go into the bath on the 15th when the 1st NOS (but used) valve come out.

Will be interesting to see the really ugly old thing...which may be eaten away over the next few months!

Today I put the ugliest, rusted up brake proportioning valve into a Molasses & Water bath.  First Brake Clean to remove any grease.  Then kerplunk.  Not optimistic...but that's the test.

I also opened up a 'new old stock' proportioning valve to discover it was indeed old but certainly not new.  Beads of old brake fluid were flushed by Brake Clean and only the ball was free from oxidation.  Kerplunk.  Optomistic that it will clean up OK.

Will keep you posted.  Will look in a week so April 15th.
