Make sure this spring has the center part of it positioned away from the hub or it will/may rub on the hub assembly like this using MM's diagram -===___________===-

Abelclasico,
Your "before" photo shows where the hub has been rubbing on your "bassackwards" spring. Did it make a nice squeeking noise?

Be sure you take into account the orientation of that picture (which looks upside down compared to the rear of my mkIV car).

Maybe you could refer to what you take apart. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly......

Don't get the top spring on bass-ackwards or the straight part will rub on the hub adding to the horrible noises you hear.

Hopefully, the noise you're hearing isn't stuffed up thrust bearings. (WD40 won't help here) Have someone step on the clutch and see if the front pulley moves.

and oh btw, question, can i take the clutch cover out without removing the engine from the car?, Yes, the procedure is covered in the Haynes book of lies. It's not difficult but there's more to it than just removing the six or eight bolts. the six or 8 bolts are accessible from the outside, might or might not be possible?  any input??, tomorrow is saturday, im gonna have sex with my mini again in the garage., im gonna clean the four brake pistons, replace old brake fluid ,recondition rubber seals etc. ( to recondition the rubber seals put them inside the freezer for 10 minutes, the molecules of the rubber will re-align and become tight again. Please video the results. And figure out a way to warn other drivers. Vertical is okay in this case.

will post some pics and horizontal videos tomorrow.

All I can say is this is great material for a reality show, huh AirFair?

Id be frit of that 60,000 volts!!  Not uncommon to get ZAPPED by a Mini ignition while rummaging around trouble shooting in the engine compartment!   At our age (well most of us) that might be terminal, so to speak!

I'm always kind of befuddled at seeing "1100" and "performance" used together!   Well, without the word "poor" in the immediate vicinity!

Is it Spank?  Maybe we should have a poll thread.

We could ask Jemal to look it up
