No, not an issue in sealing the windscreen.  Just working around the history of the Woody and adding my own chapter!

Will you be changing the lower part of the windshield frame so the recess for the rubber matches?

Back at it noon yesterday, Jan. 4th, after the Christmas/New years layoff.  Should be ready to weld in the left hand full length doorstep, inner & outer A panels this afternoon...only putting in 4-5 hours a day for the moment.

Sand blasted a ton of small parts yesterday too.

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

A day of rest for the hammer, welder, compressor & grinder.  The left rear corner is welded in place after the local repairs were completed...

More on the history of LUCKY...front windscreen panel includes the unflanged nose welded into the the A pillars, doorsteps and across the floor...and...the flanged panel from the spliced rear end.

Transition date for flat to flanged windscreen panel October 1960...so the nose on LUCKY predates the build in July 1961 by 10 months or so.

Left rear corner being replaced with steel harvested from a smooth roof Traveller that was really badly rotted up front. (1st 3 photos)

Bottom side corner of the rear floor was repaired when the Mini was upside down.  Some new steel needed on top side and below the lights on the replacedment rear corner panel. (remaining photos)

Rick , you don't think it would be easier to repair the damage as opposed to replacing the 1/4 Panel ??? Maybe your picture doesn't show all the damage?

Mousy

Just went through all your pics on miniman site.  Nice details that will be of help to many I imagine.
Looking at Minimans webcam....you're still green out there...lucky buggers

It has been a quiet week - with Christmas nearing and because I got a nasty bit of sinusitis.  Just now rounding into good health...in time for family at Christmas.

However, John got in a bit of time welding in the new crossmember, adding tabs for carpet snaps (Hadrian panel did not have them).  I pulled out & delivered the front doors as fitting them before replacing the full length doorstep is necessary.

Also dove into the 'harvested' panels from the badly rotted (floors & up front) Morris Traveller to recover the left rear quarter panel so we can use tail lamp corner to replace the original bit that had been hammered about way back when.

Looks like I'll have a good used smooth roof, right rear quarter (good around external filler and rear lamps) and mabe a MK I Morris bonnet that could be reused...at the end of the day.

To see all the photos on John's site, go to: //www.miniman.ca and scroll down on left for Rick's 1962 resto.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

Norm-- not yet ground but plate welded into Magic Wand hole in toe board.  (1 photo Norm)

Spitz -- rod change tunnel section welded into the original crossmember on 1st day, Dec. 1 (after magic wand section cut out), original cross member cut out leaving round tunnel underneath yesterday Dec. 12 (after new floors/heel board are in), including a little flange from the old crossmember, new round tunnel crossmember trimmed and flanged on the forward face...crossmember will be welded in on Tuesday, Dec. 15.  Crossmember removal and new one prepared by John G the Miniman.  (several photos for you Spitz)

Our work slowing down as we get close to Christmas...grand daughters' school concert...etc.  Little work now until after Christmas...but we are close to offering up the doors before replaceing the doorstep from A Pillar to rear wheel arch.

Is it a round tunnel crossmember and you just welded a rod shift front square section in?

Yes Norm, it will get a plate welded up.  There are a number of smaller (drilled) holes that have been welded so far and a punched hole in one of the rear wheel arches from what one might guess was an unbolted damper.

New heel board welded in...left hand floor dusted for welding of new outer sill/rocker.

Since we are way up in the northwest and have little ready access to larger panels...we will be converting a 6 flute outer sill/rocker to a 4 flute item before welding on.
