I wonder if Bob is related to the Beauchemin family who used to live in Murupara NZ and used to work for KLC?

Ran up to Kamloops, B.C. on Monday (to drop off the Aussie relatives) and had a good visit with Robert Beauchemin (aka BOB B) who has donated gear shift knobs for all the Classic Mini class winners at the MMW Car Show, Autocross, Funkhana, Rally etc.

They are all BOB B's work, are unique and a wonderful gift to Mini Meet.

When BOB B first started making gear shift knobs I bought a few to take to Australia to thank those who helped with the 'One Lap' adventure.  And, i left a length of Tasmanian Blackwood with BOB B...he'll likely get 4 knobs out of it, one of which will go on ROO, since the farthest south I will ever drive ROO was the tip of Tasmania in the Southern Ocean.

Wifey had Melton Mobray Pie & I the Ploughman's Lunch at D I C K E N S yesterday when picking up the Gift Baskets.

An evening drive is planned for MMW entrants and D I C K E N S will open just for MMW.

Look for the Sign Up sheet at Registration.

Robert Overdorff & Winnie set out yesterday for the Arctic Circle with his Mini & trailer combo.  Question is Al travelling with them...in a Mini?  Robert & Al are both registered for Mini Meet West.

Ken...in my former career I removed several vehicles from the road with bald tyres. The BC MV Act requires at least 2/32nds of tread. My favourite excuse was from an angry mom who blasted me ovcer the phone when I towed her son's car. Said he was delivering pizzas and his next cheque was not due for 2 weeks. All 4 were past the wear bars and had the canvas showing....I pricked my finger on the left front tyre...the steel belt was protruding beyond the canvas. She complained of harassment agains her son just because he was driving....waitforitttttt....a 5 Litre Mustang.

Steve,

A word of warning...if a police officer here suspects that your tires have little or no tread, you may find your Mini on a flat deck tow truck.

Last weekend, a ghost car had a highly modified Porsche pulled over on our main street and was examing the tires.  The Porsche was among a large number of Autocross prepped vehicles that had just Autocrossed on the big pad at the Pitt Meadows Airport.  it was loaded onto a tow truck for the trip home, to the shop...wherever.  Not legal to drive on public roads.

Late registration is still open and registrations are coming in daily! Our Host Hotel is pretty much booked up, but there are a few alternative hotels posted on the website.  Golf and T-shirt order has to go into the printers next week, so you have until June 7 to order these with your registration. After that, I can't accept any more shirt orders. We may have a few on site for purchase, but very limited.  Looking forward to a great event!  See you there.. Mike

Have our BC Feries reservations made to leave Fantasy Island for MMW...very upset to find that our seniors' discount does not apply on Saturday. Think I will try to convince them to let me park the Mini with the motorcycles up front and recover my missing seniors' discount that way. The mini is shorter than my Gold Wing anyway... Maybe if I tell them it is really an antique Can-Am Spyder.........no, wait,....that would be a Morgan 3 wheeler. Curses, foiled again!

Always better to register in advance Stevce, as we need counts for the banquet, rally, etc, and it creates a lot of work on the day of registration....but we do take walk ins on the day of registration.. Autocross is at the Aggisiz Racetrack, a small track, similar to the Penticton one for 2010..   Hope to see you there...

Hi Mike, Looks like my Mini will be ready, but for tires.....Will try to drive up on my Autocross slicks.  Hope they hold up for the 3800 mile trip.  Any news on the Autocross event; do you have a venue?  Can I register at the door? (looks like will be sleeping at the "Mini Motel" again or split a room with somebody).

Now over 100 Participants (with Mini/MINI)...and the 100th Participant is Edward Yen of Surrey, B.C.

For Minerva and other participants, I'll buy a 4th Gift Basket from D I C K E N'S so that the other entrants have one last shot at one at the Awards Banquet...unless, of course, it goes to the 125th participant.

Looking like a terrific Mini Meet!

If you waive the late fee maybe you'll get more entrants.

A happy ouch!

Looks like I'll be buying a 3rd D I C K E N' S Gift Basket for the 100th MMW registrant very soon!

We are still more than 5 weeks out...and...with the renewed pace of registrations will I need to buy a 4th for the 125th registrant?  Make me!!

Imagine, getting a "trophy" for registering at just the right time!  Who said Mini Meets were all about concours points and electronically timed runs?

Some good news for any procrastinators out there...there are a few rooms available at the Host Hotel at the room rate of $109 CDN or...$89.30 US (today's exchange rate) for Mini Meet West.

Otherwise, the ducks are being lined up for a terrific gathering!
