Mini Cooper Water Pump Application Guide

The Mini Cooper Water Pump is not a 'regular' service item, but they do occasionally fail.
             NOTE:  If you are looking for a Water Pump for a Mini cooper built between 1959 and the year 2000- see GWP134-P

On the GEN1 models, the Mini Cooper has a standard belt driven water pump.  On the GEN1 Cooper S models, the water pump is located on the back of the supercharger and is gear driven from the supercharger.

On the GEN2 models, The Mini Cooper and Cooper S models share the same belt driven water pump.  On the GEN2 Cooper S models, there is a second electric 'Auxiliary Water Pump' which is designed to pump water to the turbocharger.  This pump also operates automatically after the engine is shut down in order to cool the turbocharger and to prevent the oil from boiling and coking in the turbo.
