Could be the hazard switch itself, as the turn signals are wired through the hazard switch on some years.. important to know what year, and then you can match the wiring diagram to the car to figure out the problem..

Don't always believe what your vin number and paperwork says, if you manage to post a few pictures we should be able to tell you the actual year (or close) and it will make life a lot easier for you when ordering parts or doing repairs in the future.

Relays should just to the right of the carb looking in the engine bay. There might be an inline fuse on the wires leading up to them.

Just to the left of the box you type a respose in there is an Upload Image button.

It does have hazard lights and I just located and checked the fuses - they are all good.

It is a 1973 Austin Mini Cooper, at least that is what the Vin Tag shows as does the registration. It does have hazard lights. Not sure how to post a picture of it.

There is no such car as a 73 Mini Cooper unless its an Italian Innocenti model. The fuse box on most Minis regardless is on the left side of the friewall looking in the engine bay. I don't think a 73 has emergency flashers. The signal light relay on a 73 should be on the bulkhead brace just below the fuse box. Post a picture so we can see what it actually is. There are many late model Minis around reVINned as earlier models so they can circumvent the US 25 year imporation rule.

Is the car really a 1973?  sometimes the year of manufacture gets confused.

The fuse box is under the hood, and if your car is a '73 then it really only has two fuses in a fuse box and maybe another couple of inline fuses.  The wiring is very simple.

Does the car have hazard lights?  Hazard light switches add considerable complexity and are easily broken.  One side of the hazard light switch gets power from a flasher and sends it to both side's signal lights.  The other side of the switch allows the signal lights to function normally-that is one side only, via the turn signal lever, when the ignition is turned on.

If the hazard light switch is working properly, the turn signal switches are a wear item and likely need to be replaced a couple of times during the life of the car.

If the flasher unit itself has failed, they are usually located on the firewall near the master cylinders on a LHD car, or in the same area on a rhd car.

A simple flasher from the auto parts store will work.

I have a 1973 Mini Cooper and the turn signals and flashers don't work. Where is the signal relay located and I also can't find the fuse box.
