Just an FYI... all went well EXCEPT the lower subframe mounts. It would have been WAY easier with the motor out. With the motor in, good freaking luck with only one jack and one person. Getting everything into alignment is really difficult.

Our Friends in the UK cover this topic in great detail here....

Note-  the above thread covers a car with the motor removed... however it is not at all required and mendioned in the picture. I read and rememberd this for helping with my buddies 74 when he is ready to go solid. From what i read- going SOLID MOUNT is the way to go!

that's a really good idea. I'm hoping it is as easy in practice as it is in theory. Do I need to be concerned with any other things getting caught up? How about the front mounts? Jack the body up until it's at a neutral point and then remove?

Put a piece of wood on edge of the sill with a jack under ( both sides at same time ).  When you have the front rear mounts undone and the tower bolts removed ( maybe leave one in but lose to make realignment easier ) you can slowly lift the body a little.  You shouldn't need too much lift to replace the rubbers on top of the frame.

Once you have one replaced....put that bolt back in and get it threaded some.....then remove the other.

I'm wanting to replace my subframe bushings with all Poly ones. The thing is, I don't want to remove the motor and subframe to do it. So what's the easiest way to replace the front subby bushings with the motor and subframe in the car and the car on jack stands (under the subframe)?
