I go over max when taking long trips, to save on gas.....500 miles or more. But for Autocross, track-days, I have tried everything from 18 to 32 psi cold and can't tell any difference, (Ao32s)

Sidewall usually states max. pressure which you would not want to do.

I'd like to piggyback on this and see what the wisdom is on pressure for the "standard" 175/50-13 tires. I've honestly never given much thought, just pumped them up to whatever it says on the sidewall.

Interesting, that's higher than I expected. I'm putting this in my specs binder.
Thanks guys!

As the last time this was discussed seems to have fallen beyond a 365 day search, I wanted to pull it up again. I seem to recall folks with 10" A008s were running something in the range of 25 psi up front and 19 in the rears. When I pumped mine up for the first run in over a year (on admittedly older tires with tread down to the wear bars), I had 24 or so in the back and around 26 in the front. The car started to come around on me going fairly cautiously around a corner, and it felt very loose and 'mushy' when turning the wheel quickly left to right.
My first step is getting air pressures dialed in, so wanted to see what people are running.
After that, I'll have to assess whether hardened rubber, worn rear trailing arms, or something else is contributing to the poor handling. I have S-Racer front and rear sway bars, and the last time I had the car on the road, it gave me a lot more confidence in it's ability to handle corners than it does now.
I have experienced very old tires contribute to loose, dangerous handling. An old set of Falcons I ran years ago had 50% tread left, but felt like I was always driving in the rain. They were a dozen years old. This set of A008s was manufactured within a year of 2004 when I bought them, but they are obviously now past the recommended age based on the DOT code.
Thanks
