I do not have direct experience yet, but I have two Jean Belanger 'ruggedized" microsquirt based systems waiting for a set of engines.
I am using MPi blocks so I will be attempting to use the Rover components and sensors although I do have backup trigger wheels. The first phase is just distributorless using either a set of HS2s or an HIF6. The second phase will use the Rover fuel injection with the Microsquirt.
There are other issues to sort out as well with the engine transplant, but as the body is being prepped now, the engine work needs to begin very soon.

MegaSquirt is for sure the DIY Timing / Fueling System of any 4 stroke or even two engine combinatoin.
I squirted my Turbo Miata- Had a heck of a time doing it, and that was with good support thru the Miata Turbo Forums. Helped make another 20 HP but was quite finiky and took alot of adjustments constantly ... But i was looking for HP!
Turbo Mini guys also squirt their cars- so would be a good source for A series help.
With Megasquirt- If you drop the points and go to a trigger wheel... theres no reason not to go to fuel injected pulse based off the timing map.. cant get any more precise than that!
Goodluck

SC has probably the best kit I have seen. They have done all the hard work of figuring it out and have near plug & play setup. I really like their products. Their single throttle body fuel injection setup has been tempting me!
You can probably do it for cheaper than buying the SC kit but will not be as easy as just buying it from them. I purchased a twin cam conversion from them. They shipped to the US with no problem.

Electromotive HPX. According to my November, 2002 invoice, I used their small block Ford trigger wheel and the 250-72218 1/2" dia sensor.

Megajolt is the cheapest way of getting rid of the dizzy for sure.
It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

It's reasonably common in the turbo world. You'll need a trigger, pick-up, and some sort of brain to manage it all (maybe some other bits), but I understand distributorless to be much better than a distributor (more control and better timing of the spark). You might check out the turbo forum and if you can't find what you are looking for, ask the question there: //www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/

I know you meant what you typed. I have seen a few Minis with no distributor, in the normal sense, they were race type Minis though.

As above - We think you mean going Points and Condensor - Less inside your distrubutor.
Pertronix is the standard USA application.
I also had a friend order from UK / Australia this version. The UK forums rave about them too.
Off brand name- Cheaper - half price of a pertronix, Installed flawlessly and has been spot on for 400 miles or so.
Just make sure you pick the right set per your distrubutor.
