The German market seems to have enjoyed a good sprinkling of limited edition Rover Minis. The Blue Star was announced in the early summer of 1996. In standard form it came in blue paint livery, blue leather upholstery, low profile 175/50 tyres on large 13 inch Minilite sports rims, wide German spec wheel arch extensions, Koni shock absorbers, a wood-rim steering wheel with alloy spokes, wood handbrake grip, a Yew veneered, solid wood dashboard and a Cooper 63Ps 1.3i catalysed engine. Costing around £9,300 each, the production run was said to be 500.  If anyone has a brochure for these cars or the lower spec, non Cooper, German Monte Carlo LE and Kensington LE models, please contact me at [email protected]. I hope this answers your question. J.P.

If anyone will know, it will be John Parnell. He is now the acting Rover Cooper Registrar of the Mini Cooper Register. He's been doing typical Parnell-quality research on the Rover Coopers and publishing excellent information in the MCR magazine "CooperWorld".
