Its a few years down the track now but thanks to your blog Kombi I recently discovered Pedro's roof racks down here in New Zealand. Being too expensive for shipping your pictures were used with a bit of filling in the gaps to come up with a pedro inspired roof rack. I love it, great for extra space in the car while travelling.

Well, it turned out great and I'm especially happy to hear of more blog readership! Laughing

I definitely need to do some new posts. Since my twins were born it's definitely become a sideline project, but I've got quite a project ahead of me with some serious suspension overhaul that I need to do. Plus, some new wheels and flares, but we'll see what of that I can fit in this year.

Yes, Pedro provided a dizzying array of color options, but I went with the safe one and was glad. I think it was a cherry stain if I recall correctly.

Pedro and I did have quite a few conversations on the phone when the measurements were being taken. A lot of time was spent with levels and plumb bobs to get everything as close as he could use without having the car there in person. I'm just extremely relived to see how well that's come out for you two guys. Innocent

Pedro needs to use ash slats to match 'woody' wood.

No, Pedro didn't make Any adjustments on my car.

He told me that he has a roof clip from a classic Mini

that he uses to fit it before he ships. I'm assuming this

means he found a Mini and cut off the roof with rain gutter

rails.

Put a canoe on the roofrack, it actually makes a mini go faster.

@Isle Blue 65 Did Pedro make final adjustments on your car or just one that was handy?

Hi, I never spoke to Pedro on the phone - just via e-mail.  His email address is:  sainzpedro64 AT gmail DOT com

Website is:   //pedroracks.com/

The paint on my car is Dusk Blue. It was used in '64 and '65 Morris Minis in Australia.  It was manufactured by Dulon and Duco (which no longer exists) and paint code is 06644.  I have tried to find a shop that could cross reference that old code to find the tinting ratio, but it is not in any modern databases.

I had it computer matched to the original paint that was under the old dash board vinyl when I replaced it.  I have some in spray cans and would be glad to spray a cardboard piece if you would like to have that computer matched.  Or if you do manage to find someone who can pull the tinting ratio off of that code, let me know.

Thanks Miniestate!

I didn't know Pedro had made 3 of them!  Good to see that we're becoming a club!  It looks great on both of your cars, and I wouldnt' be surprised to see a bunch more classic Minis showing up with Pedros racks.

Peter: no I didn't get the T-shirt.  Maybe he doesn't print them anymore.

How much weight have you guys loaded on your racks?  Have you used it to haul stuff, or mostly for shows so far?  I have a few camping trips coming up and I'm looking forward to getting some practical use out of it!

Well heck, it's a homecoming then! Cool

I'm afraid my Mini is a bit "shabby chic" compared to yours. Embarassed

Ah!  Another Pedro Rack customer....I think I was #2 for him....#1 was a guy out west with green mini (on Pedro's web site).  Hope you got a Pedro 'Nice Rack' T-shirt.  Here's Basil earlier this year.

No not our car. That was who Lance bought the rack from originally.

All we need now is a car to go with the rack...

That is definitely the case, the Yakima rack and basket on my Subaru cost about $100 more than the rack Pedro made for my Mini.

Thanks Aaron.  It helped a lot to see one of his racks on your Mini, which it also looks great on!

Terry, that's a really nice Traveller.  Is that your wife's car?  When she wants to go skateboarding, it must take a while to remove the four hose clamps!

A Pedro rack was in the plan for the Traveller, but Lance relinquished the one he got from back east. I cannot find a photo at this time.

This one from the original owner

This is a Regal rack from Wimbledon. I never found out much about the company.

Looks like Pedro's has a little bigger cargo area
