JIM-

Just watched a black and white old movie, something about a gang breaking into an army base in the U K to steal supplies for some sort of caper-

A motor cycle driver, sidecar and all,an AA patrol officer came across the look out car parked along the road and almost blew their cover-

There is a repeat advert every week in Classic Car Weekly offering these AA badges for sale. I think the asking price was £15.

Hey Malcolm, I know I'm a lot older than you, but, do you remember back in the day when the AA Patrolmen used Motorcycles and Sidecars. when they spotted an approaching car with an AA badge they were under orders to salute the driver. They also gave you a KEY which fitted any of the Emergency Call Boxes which were dotted on every Major road. This gave you access to a phone line direct to the AA call centre who would send someone out to rescue your car and occupants. The advent of Cell Phones have made the Boxes obsolete now.

Personally I prefer the RAC, of which I'm a paid up member. I just feel they are more efficient. just my personal experiences.

I have found a couple more badges, if anyoone is interested. There is another nice authentic AA badge, in very nice condition, complete with the mounting hardware, asking $50 for this one.

The other one is an RAC badge and it appears to be newer, but unused. Asking $25 for this one.

Email in profile if interested.

I think I am gonna pass.  Not because of the price, but because I just won one on eBay the other day (before I heard back from you)

Thanks very much !

I'd be interested in what Mike doesn't take.

Ok, I didn't forget, it just took some time to get across town to where they were...

There are 2 different ones, both authentic with the membership numbers. The larger one could do with cleaning and a polish

Don, verrrry nice.   Really looks the part on your car.

Alex is right, but my car is such a mish-mash of parts and vintages from the early 70's through the mid 90's that an early badge or repro would be OK with me.

I love the looks of a historically accurate car, but mine is a true FrankenMini anyways, so it wouldn't bother me to mix it up.

For the age of car you have Mike, you ought to have one of the later square badges instead of the ornate early one.

Mike....    The AA badge does go good with your ham call.  Here is mine I got from a friend in England.  I was admiring it and a few years later he sent it to me for a birthday present.  Nice gift!

There are places on the web that sell reproduction AA badges, but an authentic would be nice.  Mine's not for sale!!

Hey - thanks guys !! That's pretty cool.  Yes, I just did a GOOGLE search and now see the early ones must be the ones that caught my eye.

In Canada we currently have CAA (just like AAA)....

Merry Christmas
