IMHO there is no plug-in ECU enhancement available for the twin-point injection (or MPI) Mini that works. Programming fuel injection for a 4 cylinder engine with just 2 intake ports is no small feat. The Superchips device only affects timing if I recall correctly. It can't support larger fuel injectors, which is what is needed to increase power above 90hp.
There are working systems to replace the Rover management with alternate multi-port injection control systems, but these are not plug and play. Some of their advocates may pop up on this thread.
Canems is the only company that has a commercial multi-point injection system, but it's not as sophisticated as the original Rover injection (it is tunable though.) Other commercial systems basically revert back to single-point injection.

SuperChips did make a piggyback unit for the MPi Minis, but I am not sure what gains were really achieved with it. It was very limited in what it could do. My car actually came with one, but I was never able to get the software to manage it so I removed it at the first rebuild.
One of the tuners in the UK added them when modifying the MPi engine as described in the other posts. By itself I am pretty sure it did not produce much in the way of results. It really just modified the ignition curve I think.

Check out my system on a 1996 SPI-1380cc mini on my site-
"The Injection is now managed by a Canems ECU specifically built for Minis, and they provide full tech support as required by phone and or email. The ECU is mounted under the dash and is friendly enough that the guys that do dyno engine tuning learn it in minutes."

no chips. The rover MEMS computer does a good job and there is not a lot that can be done with it. If the factory could have squeezed another 10hp out of their system they would have. I have not seen much gains to come from just installing programmable ecu.
The performance gains come from the tried and true route of performance cylinder head with hi lift rockers, performance header and exhaust (ceramic coated), free flowing air filter (in stock case), 52mm throttle body (only after doing head and intake changes will this make any difference). Light weight wheels and lightened and balanced engine internals. There are a couple of hotter cams that can be installed too.
Once you do all the above, you can get in the range of 83HP with the stock ecu. If you need more then you can consider a programmable engine computer to get more gains.
With high engine performance comes higher thermal loads and you will be needing a bigger radiator and probably an oil cooler.
Speed is expensive, how fast can you afford to go?

Specialist Components would be the best starting point - I believe they do a piggyback unit - but unless you remove the Rover MEMS altogether and run something else, there is virtually no point at all in chipping an MPi.

does anyone know if there are any company's, or where i might be able to get my hands on a performance chip for my 98 mini 1275 . this mini is fuel injected and i dont even know if they even make chips for fuel injected minis.
AFAIK there is nothing available. MPI's are limited in the tuning department a stage 3 head and larger throttle body would be a start but nowhere as simple and inexpensive as a computer chip.
If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.
