You will need to verify what "Seat" your "T" uses , bubble or double flare and use the appropriate flare to match. Most of the brass "T"s used on British cars are "BUBBLE" flares.

MiniSport will make the metric to standard pipe for you, but since I bought my pipes before buying my 94 front clip, I'll use an adapter or re do the end.

On some of the more modern minis, the bits coming from the master cylinder to the car's brake lines require a metric to std adapter. Perhaps you've fitted the line backwards and have the wrong end at the rear?

Go here and look at part #4

//www.minimania.com/catPage/9-19/9/19/0/Brake-Pipes---Front-to-Rear

You are correct, however, in that you cannot mix and match a flare to a union. It WILL leak. I spent a lot of time looking for inverted flare T unions (for another project) and ended up just reflaring the lines with the correct threaded fittings for the T's that I had.

Oh, Pep Boys might carry some metric to std fitting adapters, but the guys behind the counter wouldn't necessarily know that. They only go Male-Male or Female-Female though.

Sounds like you bought the wrong kit for your car.

Thank you all. I have pre-flared lines from another Mini vendor.  It was a kit to do the whole car.  My worry is that the stock tee is just a simple tee.  It doesn't have the complementary end to seal to the flared line/fitting.  I talked to two old timers and they say it will leak.  Some Mini guys say it will be fine.  With only a single master and reservoir, there isn't a backup so it makes me nervous.  I found a flared tee at NAPA that will work great with the flared lines from the other Mini vendor.

Thanks.

Many local auto parts stores have "ready made" brake lines in different lenghts. They also have adpt. fittings from metric to american.  Shop around.

I would retain the stock t-fitting and remake the brake pipes with the proper double/bubble flares, make sure that your brass unions are the correct length (with or without leads).  The pipes should be 3/16" od, some cars have a miss-match of unf/metric depending upon which master cylinder fitted or if it's a 'newer' mini.  This is the flaring tool that I have:

Our host offers pipe nuts (//www.minimania.com/part/CBS250/MALE-BRAKE-PIPE-NUT),

and if you prefer brass, //automec-uk.mamutweb.com/Shop/List/Brass-Standard-Brake-Pipe-Fittings/37/1

I want to ask if someone out there has experience with this....the original rear brake tee has straight female fittings: 3/8-24 threaded holes.

I bought a "Kit" of brake lines from minisport and the line that runs from rear to front has a 10mm fitting on one end and a 3/8-24 on the other.  The fittings are for inverted flare ports but like I said the inside of the tee isn't for flared lines so how does the line crush and seal to a straight female fitting?

I've found some tees at summit racing that have 3/8-24 inverted flare ports on all 3 sides but they don't have a mounting tab like the stock tee has.  There is one available in the UK but it's almost $30 with shipping!

What have others done or recommend?  Do I keep the stock tee and just swap the 10mm fitting with a 3/8-24 fitting and re-flare or buy the tee without the mounting tab and maybe zip tie it to something or ???
