Yo Nick, I assume the was a classic instruments setup? I really wanted to run that in the Mini, but if it is the CI gauge it was a bit out of the budget, they make some really really nice gauges. I like how you can do back lit turn signals around the rim.

Doug, they don't have a lot of info about them, but here is where I bought mine from:

//www.snsclassics.com/Street_rod_gauges.html

She was great to deal with and had it very fast. It comes with all the sending units as well! The back of it is nice because it has a plug in harness, a button to reset trip, etc. It really is a nice unit for the price.

That Haneline 5:1 gauge looks really nice also.  When I Googled for them though I could not find a current web site, only a few dealers.  Where did you buy yours?

Well.. it was more than $50. I cringed a little when I bought it, but I wanted to try something new in one of the Mini's and since I plan on hanging onto the Estate why not. I think it compliments the Smith Gauges nicely. The LED is fantastic at night. GPS speedo also a nice added bonus. My only gripe with it is no turn signal/hi beam indicators. I very nice unit to look into is is the Haneline 5 in 1 Gauge, fits the stock Morris Minor hole, I believe it is around 5.5" and includes indicators, hi beam, plus water temp, oil, fuel, and volts. US made and a very good price. You can get them in multiple face colors. I went with a gray since the cars dash will be painted black.

Its a good thing you mentioned it because my wiring harness went up in smoke this evening. I parked the car and had the lights and fogs on. Turned off the car and noticed that the fogs were off in the on position. Turned off the headlights and then put the key in the on position and noticed that the fuel pump runs better with the lights on and then there was a big cloud of smoke!

Looks like I will have to rewire the entire car!

YAY!

AutoMeter sells their Traditional Chrome line that look very similar to the style of the Mini gauges.  You can buy them at any of the large online race shops.  The needle is orange instead of white though.

Here's a picture I took of my guages after install: //desertwave.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=5746&g2_imageViewsIndex=2

Jeff, Where did you get your wiring harness from? I have thought about ripping mine out and exchanging it for a larger fues block and weathertight connectors.

I think I bought it at Summit Racing (www.summitracing.com) - part number 10102.  Best mod I did to my Mini.  I am in the process of a restoration and moved the wiring harness to the new shell without issue.

+1 ^^^

also - Other Smiths gauges were used in all british cars.

Oil Pressure with  Water Temp - (dont know what other small gauge you would want)

and perhaps add RPM - Rev counter would be another add on to monitor the motor.  MGB's Midgets would all be easy installs.m and match perfectly.

Take a look at SpeedHut in Orem, Utah: //www.speedhut.com/gauges/?gclid=CMv5jN-1x7kCFZFcQgod_GkAhQ

I got speedo & tach that were a dead fit for the old Smiths and they will provide face colors, text fonts etc. that closely match.  The backlights for nighttime are options to choose from too.

Their surrounds are satin black, so in rebuilding the rest of the MGBs gauges (clean glass/faces/new O-rings), I painted the bezels black (were a grey/silver).  The set looks great.

I have a 73 with the three gauges on the center dash. I would like to go forward with adding a few gagues to the cockpit to monitor the engine a little better but dont want to spoil the look.

anyone run into a good gauge manufacture that puts out gauges that reasonably match the mini gauges in trim ring and design?
