When I was driving my '76 Clubby, I was using a Honda Civic battery, and yes the more CCA and Ah you have the better. I try to get the "biggest" battery theat Honda put in their cars, and they are usually pretty cheap. Atleast they were back in 2004...yikes...you may want to disregard, but it doesn't hurt to try.

you need a group 24F battery, bigger is better in reserve capacity and CCA'S
no matter where you live, hot or cold, a longer month wrnty battery is always good
they make a 24F50, 24F60, or 24F72, the last two numbers are month's pro rated wrnty

Sure, buy a cheap one if you like rust (the vapors that come from normal batteries cause all of the corrosion around the battery box). But, if you really care for your car, get an AGM battery like the Optima to minimize that corrosion issue.
Side benefit of buying such a nice battery is that it will last for many more years than a cheap liquid lead acid battery will (probably a cost savings over the long run).
Take care of whatever kind you get by fitting a trickle charger unless you use the car every day.

Depends on where you live. Extreme hots n colds, bigger is better. Mild temps, get cheapest car battery that will fit from Walmart as long as your car is in good condition - just sayin. But: Shoehorned a really nice, big, expensive Optima in Mama's mini van when the kids were little, moved it to the motorhome 5 yrs later, was in the motorhome for a few years, Traded motorhome off to a ranch and the battery got moved into a tractor of some sort for the last 2 yrs. Still cranking out nicely.

I am looking for a replacement battery for a classic mini 1275 MPI engine. Any suggestions. Will the new BMW mini batteries work on classic mini?
