24F group, buy the biggest cold crank you can get, Interstate makes a great battery, $129.00, keep a very small battery tender on it when not in use, i can get 10 years out of this battery before it needs replaced, this is the only brand i would buy

if you like rust, keep buying flooded, lead acid batteries (typical car battery)

if you like your car, and think it is worth it, buy an AGM battery (still lead-acid, but there is no free liquid inside so the vent can be sealed, keeping the corrosive acid vapors away from your sheet metal)

An AGM battery costs more, but is cheaper than replacing rusted body work. Norm

A gel cell battery is what I replace all my batteries with.  I prefer yellowtop due to the cold conditions of my cleveland OH weather.  But I don't think it will matter down there in Atlanta for most of the year.  I believe in one time quality rather than be stranded again.  Also my father-in-law used one of my old ones in his truck for 3 years after we used it 4 years.  It was a freightliner sleeper cab not a pickup truck.

Big lead acid batteries keep cranking (a Mini) for more years than small lead acid ones do.
I run a 620CCA Century in mine.

But for track work where weight matters, fit an Optima or similar.

A battery that is still less than $100?  That is a deal.

I do what Dimitris suggested, measure the battery box in the boot and buy a battery with the largest CCA rating that will fit.  ay attention to where the terminals are so the cables will reach.

kmart has a nice with  a handle, which makes it so much easier to put in or out for about $50 and the terminals are correct.

Hi, guys...I've got a quick question... My mini's battery just give out about a week ago, the one that was in my mini was a AutoCraft Gold size 34 - 2 CCA 800. I was going to buy the same exact battery but Advance Auto Parts told me that its been discontinued. So, before I lug my battery into the store, I wanted to ask you guys which battery is best for a classic mini? Mines a daily driver, 998 engine I live in Atlanta. Any advice would be great, thanks.
