From the photo you posed, there's a cap on the top of the reservoir. To the left of it (photo left0 there appear to be wire connections on the side of the rectangular plastic molded shape. The should be 2 wires there. inside the reservoir is a float switch (or equivalent).  When the fluid gets low, the switch closes and warning light comes on. If it is just a bit low, the light may come on only during braking or acceleration (or on hills). Once it gets low enough, the light will stay on.  If the fluid is obviously low, then check the wire connections. Then find out why it is low.

If a small metal master cylinder ( usually found on pre 1970 cars ) fill that to near the top.....but I doubt you have this kind as you have the brake warning light

I think maybe some models/years/market had the light come on when the park brake was on also.  If so check this.
How do your brakes feel btw?

Oh, my mini is an 80's model, yeah I do have a plastic reservoir on the left side, like in the picture. MY brakes feel normal, just the brake warning light came on a few times when I would stop at a stop sign, then I wouldn't see it again, the next day a few days ago it turned solid, so I haven't drove it.

One more question what type of brake fluid do you use, I've heard some use dot 3 and other use dot 4? I was gonna go with dot 4, but just wanted a second opinion, thanks man.

Or if you have late model servo brakes the master leaks back into the servo and brake fluid sits in the rubber diaphragm.

Check your Rear Wheel Cylnders -
Look for wetness on the BACKSIDE of the wheel - or slung around the inside of the wheel.- or dribbiling down to the ground. Commonly happens.
also can happen if you have front drums - Check each wheel

My bet- you've blown a seal!

Hey, guys my brake fluid warning light is on and stays on, on my classic mini... I've checked both the master cylinder and reservoir, but to be honest have no idea of where the brake fluid goes, so just wanted to ask you guys first. How does one refill/change the brake fluid and where does it go, and what is the difference between the master cylinder and the reservoir?
