Thanks Jim, I appreciate it. I have amassed piles and piles of facts and info for my story. Most importantly to me is not the actions I took to help our Country, or what I did and saw, but the battle that has ensued for almost 11 years now of me fighting NY to just be treated like a human being as I deserve for what I did. Especially when your own ex NYPD lawyer who used to represent me in court (fired his ass) steals 20k from you thru falsified billing for 3 years he wasn't my attorney and the court didn't even look at the bills, just paid him. Now that is the real story I think. Plenty more where that came from. @72Moke just email me the pics Email is in my account info.

Larry, every time you tell your story about 9/11, you evoke a charged emotion in me. You are a real hero. I saw the windows blow out , just before the 1st tower fell. When others ran away, you ran into the inferno. Now we know a toxic vortex. Another toxic element was mercury vapor from all those fluorescent lamps.

Writing is very hard. Start by getting a note book and writing snippets of thought into it. No censoring, that will come later. Do it.

Jim

Thanks Malcolm, I'm still around. I need to do two stories. One about the Mokes, that's a short story very interesting though and the 5000 page one about my 9/11 rescue and the trials and tribulations following. @72MOKE I have WXR 278 right here in my hand, I have to dig thru my stuff and see where the others got to. I took most of them off the mokes before I sold them. Could possibly be on one of the 3 I still have here. I'll let you know.

You should write a book on the Catalina Mokes rescue.
Good to hear from you Larry.

I am the guy that rescued the Catalina Mokes. Tom actually had little to do with getting them off the island, he made a deal to buy some off me and accepted delivery when he met me in Long beach, but wasn't part of the actual rescue mission. I should write the story, before I forget and it's lost as just an urban legend. How I moved 57 Mokes in 3 days , most didn't run and many had to be reassembled so they at least rolled, towing them with an old sling wrecker sometimes 3 at a time lashed together, round the clock. Moving them from lot to lot down to the loading dock where the barge would dock so we could load them. A wild story, pre cell phone, pre internet, it involved a helicopter, a train a forklift and a big truck, a grand mission to save them.

I tried to post pictures but for some reason it won't work. If you go to the website BRING A TRAILER, My Moke is The yellow 1972 Mini Moke with the blue top. It was up for auction in 2016. The man who won the auction sold it to me in 2020. You can even just type in 1972 Leyland Mini Moke and it's all over the internet. Thanks.

My parents rented one that was WXR 276, I am sure it's long gone.

Thanks, Scott

Hello again, just saw the other post of the green Moke. Did you paint the yellow Moke? If yes, did you do it yourself? Looks nice.

My apologies to Tommy Scrhramm, l always want to call him Tommy Schnaar for whatever reason

He grabbed a ride with my wife back from Magog Que back in 20004 to Ontario, in those days he was driving small camper vans from a factory in Kitchener , Ontario all over the USA, drive one, tow one. That's when l saw Tommy wearing his anti snoring mask, hilarious

Not to mention his giant St Bernard dog he brought to MM East in Columbus OH in his mini van Memories........

Sold my Catalina Island Moke last year on BaT which was one of Schramm's.

My son has one of the Catalina Island Mokes with black plate, this one too was one of Schramm's, has all body panels to restore it. We are working on it and may be ready to sell as a completed shell next year. Probably not going to do it to completion so someone can finish it to their color, level of finish, etc.

Many years ago I made a trip to the Island just to see the Mokes. They looked in pretty good shape then. Tried to talk to the rental owner. Not interested, so I walked around back and talked to the guy who kept them running. He said the biggest problem they had that kept him busy was having to rebuild gearboxes. Remember, no syncho on 1st gear and most people who rented didn't know how to drive anything but the Buick with the automatic at home, and trying to learn to drive on a 3-syncro Mini usually didn't go well. Eventually, he just locked out 1st gear and told renters they were three speeds.

The yellow Moke came from a lady in Windsor Ont (Detroit) who had to sell it on because of her arthritis

I believe she bought it from Larry H

I sold it to George in April of 2008, just before my Big Tim heart attack

Although my pic shows the yellow Moke in the snow, it was just coming back from the boot shop, never winter driven,
