Plastic can do that in the heat...my son says Chevy S10 cast iron slaves solve the problem...but, alas, adds weight.
The plastic bits are not so much of a problem in Canada. My son always has a spare for his own Cooper S and always replaces slaves when doing clutches, flywheels on other Modern MINIs.
