And the accusations of racism begin again. I'll just go back to exploiting this website for traffic on my social media and not posting here.

Good job MM. Really nice place ya got here.

DARREN!  IGNORE THE TROLL.  ANY ADVICE THIS HALF WIT, ( AND IM FLATTERING HIM) GIVES YOU IS VERY DANGEROUS?  IVE SEEN A FEW TROLLS BUT THIS IDIOT TAKES THE BISCUIT.

I'M NOT A LAWYER, BUT MINI MANIA MIGHT BE CONSTRUED UNDER COMMON LAW, AS AIDING AND ABETTING THIS NUMPTY TO CAUSE DAMAGE, OR WORSE FATALITIES.  DUE TO HIS STUPID ADVICE, WHICH THEY MINI MANIA ARE TURNING A BLIND EYE TO. IN ESSENCE THEY ARE CONDONING IT, UNTIL THE FIRST LAW SUIT AS AN ACCESORY.

WOULD YOU TRUST ANYONE WHO COMES FROM A COUNTRY WHERE THE MUM, DAD, 3 KIDS, DOG, CAT, GOAT AND A CAGE OF CHICKENS ARE GOING DOWN THE ROAD ON A CLAPPED OUT HONDA 50, TIED TOGETHER WITH BALING TWINE, GAFFER TAPE, AND BAMBOO SHOOTS.  GORILLA GLUE IS HIGH TECH STUFF OVER THERE.

HE ASKS IF MTYMOUS IS BETTER THAN HIM?    HELL YEAH.    METHUSALAHS BUCK GOAT IS BETTER THAN THIS S***BAG.

I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO HAS TAKEN THIS GUYS ADVICE AND BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AFTERWARDS.

Lol. Ok. Not sure if you read more than my first 2 sentences. Doug gets it. He understood my sentiment.

I was offering help and saying it's sad that you're not supported here as a new member, but instead are greeted immediately with distrust and suspicion. Re-read my post and let me know if you're still offended. I'd be happy to talk with you off the forum. My offer for help still stands.

I don't post here for a reason. Ive been a member since about 2007 and on the forum since 2001 under a previous name.

Darren, I can see why/how you interpreted MtyMouse's post the way you did but please go back and read it again.  He is not taking a swing at you.

Speaking for him (excuse me MtyMouse) he is suggesting (whether the rest of us agree or not) that distrust and suspicion here is due to the practices of our board host "supporting known trolls".  However, he did not suggest you were a troll.

As you continue reading his post he suggests other forums you might find helpful and he suggests you are free to contact him directly for help with your Mini.

Yes, I got the exact thing. Sad, really. A Mini hierarchie ! But...I’m getting a news paper tomorrow ( if it stops
snowing so hard ) or asap, and I’m going to smile and hold that newspaper ( Charlottetown, PEI ) , because
I want to LEARN about my favourite car.
What more can I say ?

Thanks mur. That is the approach that I am taking. One thing at a time and I will get there. Right now
my problem is that my brothers “garage” is one of those tent and aluminium frame type of “garages”, so
although my Mini is protected from the weather, it is too cold to do much. I’ll spend half the summer
fixing this car to what it should have been when delivered, and to what it will be soon...a great running,

This is a sad artifact of MiniMania staff supporting known trolls and encouraging them. They have broken the culture of trust here and are content with not supporting an effort to correct and mend that culture.

My opinion is that you not worry about folks on here trusting you. Many of the community members here who have good knowledge of the car are on other forums:

TheMiniForum.co.uk
facebook.com/theminiforum
Restorationmini.com
minifinity.com
16vminiclub.com
turbominis.com

or many of your local groups and clubs which are relatively easy to find on facebook. If you're having difficulty finding them, just ask for them on one of the other forums I posted and we'll probably chime in. I'm in Southern Ohio if you ever need help. I don't assume people are trolls and I'm more than happy to try and help if i'm able. Feel free to send me an email. It's in my profile.

To be believed here, first you need to fill out a full profile.  Anonymity here is greeted with suspicion.  Do not hide behind an avatar and login name.  Provide your location and real contact information.  ( I believe the OP has done that except for an email address).  People on this forum are VERY willing to help, particularly if they are nearby.

Limit your threads to one (1) small and specific topic.  Start with an explanation of what is wrong then give a succinct list of what you have tried to resolve the problem.  As you get suggestions from others... follow their advice and post what you found.  Do not ignore advice without giving an explanation (i.e. If someone tells you to change the spark plugs and you don't do it... explain why not).

It is very helpful and reassuring when people post pictures of their car and the problem areas.  Join one of the photo hosting sites so you can upload images and include them in your posts here.  Repeated posts without showing your car will be greeted with suspicion.  Most Mini owners love showing off their cars.

Do not rant against other people.  Most of the people here have known each other for years either through face-to-face contact or email exchanges.  It is very much like family.  Don't come into the dining room as a stranger and tell everyone that the food sucks.
This post should be a sticky on the board.

Doug Lawson's advice is excellent.

Derwood did say he wanted to use his real name "Darren" as his screen name but it was taken. He has also posted his full name Darren Giddings and has given his email address in one of his posts this week. It is a valid address because he sent me photos and we have corresponded off-line.

  1.
Hi all. It seems that some folks don’t think I own a Mini. Even after the vendor came on the board ?
It seems that some think I’m a troll , and not a Mini owner. I signed up to learn about my Mini.
Photos will soon be put up by Dan of me and my Mini  , with me and a current newspaper - Tks Dan )
Then I hope we can ( or at least I can ) forget about this thing. Move on to Minis , please.
    Derwood.
PS- This has been a very unusual experience so far. Later all. ??
