Perhaps BMW will follow the Ford UK lead (EcoBoost engine failures) and cover the costs when threatened with a class action.

Car engines make CO2 and trees absorb CO2. By running your engine you're feeding a tree and helping the environment.

My daughter bought a low mileage used 2016 Countryman with a turbo. She parked it in my driveway and a few minutes later her car's engine compartment was on fire. By the time the fire dept. got there, her car, my Mini, and VW were destroyed. My driveway was destroyed and the front of my garage was damaged from the heat. The fire report said that the fire started in the Countryman engine compartment but could not verify what started the fire because there was just ashes left in the engine compartment. BMW denied any culpability for the fire. It sounds like the turbo cooling issue that prompted several recalls has not been resolved. I had to declare the claim on my insurance. I wanted to warn the Mini community about this. My local NBC news ran the story. You can see video of the fire and the rest of it on Youtube if you Google "Mini Countryman fires". We loved our Minis until this happened. It was scary.
