verto arm seems too stout to bend.

anyways my client has decided to drive it till it craps out.

Yep. It doesn't take much wear (or bending of the arm) to render the clutch useless. Mine's pre-verto, but this tiny crack is all it took. [link]

Metric bolts.
Mini Sport sells one that fits both types if not available here.

Yes I make my own pullers out of 1 inch steel plate, and have one for each. Steve (CTR)

Yes absolutely. There is no adjustment on a verto clutch unlike the earlier non verto ones. When on a trip once i lost the clutch and i was able to put an acorn nut on the end of the slave rod which gave me the extra throw i needed, some owners replace the rod with an adjustable one i replaced the arm when i got home and it was good to go.
The acorn has to be one of the best "found the parts on the road" repairs I have ever heard of, hehe well done!

Does anyone have a separate clutch puller tool for each clutch?  Verto and Pre Verto?

I'm sure the bolt circle for verto is different from the diaphragm type and the bolts are metric. Steve (CTR)

Very much so - the Verto clutches seem to wear the pins and balls much faster than the diaphragm clutches.  Add up all the wear and the pedal will be on the floor.
It's more likely to be an accumulation of that than a worn out plate.  Easie to fix too.

Before you look at the clutch check the arm for wear on the ball end.

No differing adjustments in a Verto vs a pre Verto.

 Check for wear in all the pivot joints.

Flywheel tool will work.  only difference will be the 3 bolts that thread into the flywheel.

   Early Verto flywheels are a Coarse thread bolt into the flywheel x3
 Verto-   Late = Fine thread 3/8th (i believe)  (new flywheel puller tools come with both bolts in the tool set,.

A friend's car has a verto clutch. Pedal is right at the floor on release. Aside from bleeding the air, is there any adjustment? 

AND,  Will the non verto flywheel puller work on the verto clutch?  Or different tool needed?
