Glad it worked

in my experience, disconnecting the MAF and running on defaults is the first thing to do even before looking at codes. All sorts of codes can appear from a bad MAF without ever alerting you “bad MAF” . MAFs can go bad in an instant like other electrical problems. Some people try to clean a bad MAF. I cannot trust that. A new one is a small price to pay.

Thank you for input.  We only use a gas station to fill Mini because of the volume of gas they sell and using higher octane pump gas.  It was a sudden problem.  I change air filter alone with plugs, and coil packs.  In the previous post the MAF idea seems to work.  Running great now.

Did these symptoms start suddenly or has it worsened over time?  Were there any changes or service done on the car recently?  Is it possible that you have a bad tank of gas?

It is difficult to diagnose with complete certainty and there are many items that can cause similar issues, but based on our experience, history of the 2007-2010 models, and the descriptions of the symptoms you provided, it 'sounds a lot like a defective High Pressure Fuel pump.

Before you order the HPFP, I would recommend you look for any vacuum leaks.

unplug your MAF.
Should run on default settings.
If runs better, then MAF is bad.
Common problem, easy fix.
