That is a Subaru Sambar with the VW cosmetic look.. pure JDM at heart with this VW look. I believe all 660 cc or less.

what's the origin of this van? Looks Japanese in styling on the outside. Was it a stock 60's machine that was customized?

hi jim.. actually I like these.. BUT they are crazy money in the UK.. about 7-8000 quid.. No money here on them.. as you can buy the spilt windows VW from brazil for about this kind of money. ( yea yea. I know the VWs made is brazil.. did NOT do quality steel like the motherland.. but still look good.. later bc
