I'm actually surprised that those new cars don't have an automatic electric lift gate. I took a quick look around the interwebs, and you're not the only ones who have a similar issue. One of the suggestions that seemed like a good solution is to replace the gas struts with shorter ones so the door doesn't go up so high. Maybe if the car makers wouldn't keep making them so damn huge. I'm 6'1" and I almost need a stepladder to get up into my RAM truck.

I wonder if you might be able to attach a Velcro strap of some kind to the inside of the rear hatch - I don't have an F55 4-door here to see where you might attach it but maybe something simpler than these seat pulls. You can maybe even use some of the panel screws - just one won't be strong enough but if you can fabricate a bracket that goes across a couple or more screws and attach a strap to it?

Should have bought her a smaller car. Like maybe a Suburban or an F350.

Pictures of the wife, and the car. Mount a strap to the trunk lid that she can pull down, or buy another car.

Platform shoes? Mount a strap handle that drops down enough for her to reach it? This cannot be a problem had you purchased a classic mini.
