That it's okay to just like white girls, but there is a whole variety of fish out there that may be a better fit for other people wants and needs.

I wasn't talking about Vtec conversions as a whole, I am talking about D-Series conversions. Americans (me being one) usually have the attitude of go big or go home. Hence the B and K mostly being built, sold, etc. I know the pitfall of those setups. Mostly everyone I know with a D conversion has enjoyed it for years. That's just my opinion.
The best way to go with the B and K series is RWD or AWD, forgetting all the other issues you just can't get the power down to the tarmac as well with a 1500 lb FWD set up imo.
I'm getting ready to work on a Midi built by minitec a little while back. Has the J series, with a supercharger, mid mount RWD. It is def a cool piece, made 380bhp. He ended up de-tuning it down to 320.

There are plenty of unfinished Mini projects with the stock motors as well in peices.Face it,people dont finish their S*** more often then not.A proper D series is better in every which way possible.I had the 998 and 1275 in my car both.Switched to D16z6 and never looked back.Highway driving is perfect with the 3.72 final drive.Added a turbo because it was still slow to me and that made it liveable. Those 998 shouldnt be legal in all states. It was dangerous merging into traffic in Philadelphia Pa,and parts on New Jersey.

Awe Mini-Cox, don't sell yourself short. (Stand proud!) - you are a troll.

What's his name?  (The redhead showing up under the cover of darkness?) Russell?

Wow, that's nice. I would like to ask, how many D series powered conversions have you seen for sale over the years? From what I have seen, less then a handful. Everyone has been happy because it's not over the top and still handles and rides like a Mini. We have built slightly over the top, still useable, and virtually no torquer steer mainly thanks to low offset wheels, lsd, and good final drive selection. I can't say that for B or K series conversions. Been there, done that...

PS, I got word that a west coast shop is doing 3 pups at the tune of 80k a pop for original spec. So there is an arse for every seat it seems.

Well, that's one way to rationalize ignorant decision making. Just call everyone who disagrees with you jealous. Why not just go get a Ferrari 250GTO and put a 7.4 liter big block Chevy in it. All those people ridiculing for that swap you would just be jealous.

(Not that I think there's anything wrong with supercharging a 2005 Lotus - take a look at my Avatar. Original owner from new.) Course if your wife thinks a car with 4.7 sec 0-60 is soooooo slow then what are you doing thinking about a classic Mini? Even a VTEC mini will be hard pressed to beat that time - the problem is traction and torque steer. And aerodynamic drag and stability problems will keep it under 130mph unless the suspension and probably the body is radically modified.

So she'll be soooooooooo unhappy.

If I sell it for zero or give it away to someone I like, and had 6 months or more of driving it, I will be happy as that means I am on to the next car, maybe another mini. I like to build stuff, or buy stuff and add bits too it. Maybe I will add some ground effect lighting (kidding, that was just to wind a few up, but not you Dr Mini). As I said, my last cars were a lotus, a Caterham, a newer overly modified mini, and several other problem cars that I drove every day, all in the snow as well and tracked, like this mini will be (a pickup may suck on track, not sure, but will be fun to give it a go ). I am also a res of England (lived there until recently), so we are used to this (to be clear, I am not British, never can be, a citizen yes, but British is special), but not used to the US prices for stuff lol--crazy.

I would also say a whole lot of minis with standard bits get cycled through either through issues or disappointment or both. I don't have enough life left to worry about how long I will own a car or if I will get my money, I am in my early 40s you know. I do hope no one is trying to use a mini as an investment though, that is new to me. But I will still post some pics of the build. Pushing for October/Nov finish at the moment and it will be done! Already planning the next upgrade before it is done, thinking sand tyres or 4wd

You should check out the number of VTEC conversions that have been done and put up for sale within 6 months of completion. You should also check the number of folks who started their conversion but never finished it or finished it and it was never quite right. You next need to check the value of a Mini P/U with a stock A series engine and then go ahead with your conversion. When you do, keep track of the $$$ you spend on the conversion. You will find that the amount of money you throw at it will never be recovered when you sell said beast. If like most, you will see a significant loss, not only in the amount you sell vs the amount you spent, but the amount you take for it vs the amount you would have made if you sold it as it came with the A series engine. Go ahead and do it. If you make a successful conversion and you like it, GREAT! Statistically speaking, there have been more failures/losses than there have been success stories when it comes to putting a Honda engine in a Mini. Have fun, enjoy whatever you do.

Lol....watching this thread obviously. Working with John now to build something nice now. I didnt realize there were these trolls om this site. But hey to eqch there own. My preference is classic with something special and lots of nice parts that I find on my modern stuff. Also, when I move back to england, I wont be embarasses by a stock engine. The point of cars is to make people smile, not stress over outdated stuff or worry about what people think. Drive it, lwt people take oics, sit on it or whatever. I recently brought home a lotus elise...yeah a 2005...and my wife nearly cried because it was soooooo slow. So we supercharged it and got flack from all kinds of trolls saying we ruined the heritage....when in reality they are just jealous because their ideals keep thrm from having fun.
