I came up with the following based on the vin number. Our G2NME1125 and G2NME1175

11 53 8 699 290 and 11 53 7 589 713 - the pipe number is slightly different.

Many times, you can find aftermarket parts made by the same manufacturer that supplies MINI which means you get the same quality that is packaged differently. As you mentioned, I personally would be suspicious of cheap ebay parts.

It sounds like you are looking at the thermostat housing and the hard pipe that connects to the water pump.

As for why it may have failed, the problem may be with a simple seal and not the part itself. Regardless of mileage, you have a 10 year old car and it would not be unusual for a rubber seal to fail.

A lot of modern engine parts are being made of a plastic type material and given the extreme conditions that they operate under, I am not surprised they will eventually fail as well....
