Maybe you can re-configure the oil lines and use the transmission cooler as an engine oil cooler?

thanks for the help. I didn't want to have to buy the new oil filter housing with oil cooler.$150.00. plus the coolant lines.$55.00.used parts.

Your car should run fine without the oil cooler on the oil filter housing. Monitor the oil temp on hot days and that will tell you whether you need the oil cooler or not.

I have a 2006 mini cooper s with 6 speed automatic transmission that I am doing a transmission swat to a 6 speed manual transmission. there is information I found that I would need to swap out my oil filter housing to one with oil cooler and change out the coolant hoses. the automatic transmission had a transmission fluid cooler on it to moderate the temp. can anyone tell me why I would need to swap out oil filter housing if it already worked on the engine with out the oil cooler?
