No matter what kind of car. It can be a Honda Fit all the way to a Ford F-250. Try to answer these questions as well:
How longs your commute?
Whats the geography in your area? (hills, urban, highway, snow, etc.)
How much is gas in your area/what type of gas do you use?
How much does the EPA say is the MPG?
Also, if your car isn't in your flair, tell us what you drive.

I rebuilt it with a hone, fresh rings complete head work. I have yet to put it back on the road fresh. My next 998
will be .060 bore, flat top press pistons 295 cyl head with O/S valves Kent 266 cam and twin 1 1/4 SUs. Don't know
what mpg but it should roll.
I have a 998 Cooper a 997 Cooper an a 1275 Cooper S core I could rebuild. Steve (CTR)
I'd estimate around 38mpg based on what Betty did with her 1060 engine.
It's worth remembering that the final drive ratio has a LOT to do with MPG, not just the engine size...
Check out the story of David Vizard's 50/50 Mini...
Cheers, Ian

And see how that works out. I have buckets of 3.44 sets which is becoming the new 4.10. Steve (CTR)

Doug (as usual) is wise. That said, I get about 40MPG (imperial) if I keep my foot out of it. (it's pretty hard to do, LOL!)
In Canada, forever, we used the Imperial Gallons like the UK, but I still can't seem to get used to "Liters/100km" (what does that even mean?)
. I am not as old as dirt, but probably smell almost as bad.
I think in "feet/inches" like most of you, weigh things in pounds, when I am cold outside or warm inside, everything is Celsius and when I fill up my MINI (or Mini) it's 'how many liters",Speed here is by km/h, but when I talk fuel consumption it's "miles per gallon" (Imperial)
Talk about a mixed up country !
Mike
p.s.-most , but not all, tape measures here have cm on one edge and feet/inches on the other edge...oh, we buy milk in 1 liter bags, but when we bring it home and cook/bake with it, we add "cups" of milk to our recipes.
Quote:
The numbers offered by members from the U.K. may reflect MPG in Imperial gallons which are close to 20% larger than a U.S. gallon (1 Imperial gallon = 1.2 US gallon). To convert Imperial MPG to US MPG multiply by 0.83
~ 30 minutes in a Mini is more therapeutic than 3 sessions @ the shrink. ~
