The top engine mount on the passenger side is a 'fluid filled' engine mount. It may 'visually' look good but if you see a black gooey mess under the engine mount, it is failed.
The lower engine mount on the backside of the engine is usually the one that limits the engine 'rocking' motion under acceleration and deceleration.... Make sure it is secure.

I bought a 2002 S, manual transmission, with just over 150,000 miles on it.
Of all the repairs and preventative maintenance I've done to it I'm not sure how to approach or diagnose this one issue.
The engine/transmission jerks too much accelerating and decelerating (while in gear). Almost like the whole assembly feels loose.
My top engine mounts look fine but I can't easily inspect the underside of the car since I don't have access to a decent workspace and I haven't purchased any jack stands yet.
I am looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with or knows what I can do to make the drive train feel more solid.
