I was wondering the same thing...
May not be any kind of Mini, as Alex suggested.

I thnk you're right. I checked the OP profile before I posted and noticed that this was his first post on the same day he joined. Usually a bad sign.

I'm starting to suspect from the username that it may be a scattergun smearing for E34 M5 BMW bits...

Could be a Bini though.

Either way, that seems to me to be a pretty standard reply wanting gather more information - I've certainly exchanged photographs and detailed closeups of various problems over the years, both on development parts and badly made ones.  It's normal for any supplier to want to see what's going wrong for a multitude of reasons.

my first email to Wossner USA, I contacted them first because they are the closest dealer.

Brian,

Thank you for contacting Wossner N.A..  We do not have any reports of issues with these connecting rods, but are looking into this situation.

We have a few questions for you:

  1. From which Canadian Distributor did you purchase your pistons and rods?
  2. Approximately when did you purchase the pistons and rods?
  3. Where is the rod hitting the block?
  4. Is the area of interference the same in all 4 rod openings?
  5. Can you send some photos of the interference?

Thanks again.

Kind Regards,

Bob DiFranco

I know Wossner had a very good reputation and have been in business for many years and being a German based company I would have expected a lot more than what I payed for and received, they were not cheap they are in line with the rest of available pistons and rods available.  The reason I chose Wossner was because of their reputation, I would have at least expected they had test fit a set of piston and rods into a block and checked clearences etc. but I guess not, My first contact with Germany they did not know what I was talking about and had no clue there was an issue.  Terrible

Were they a bargain, verging on cheap ?
Did you shop around before buying them... ?

For those of us with proper Minis, the same thing has cropped up with some of the Chinesium rods (and some from one of the bigger names, rhymes with ess see) which will only fit a 73.5mm bore size or greater.  Not everyone wants to bang straight out to a 1380 so do your homework first.

There have been failures of these rods posted on the internet, rumor has it these are the same POS rods as the K1 Chinese rods.  ZRP, CP Carillo, SuperTech all fit with no issues and are obviously strong enough to handle over 500HP

You want stronger rods.. there is a good chance they're going to be wider...  these must be the strongest

Do not purchase these pistons and connecting rods, they do not fit properly. After receiving their product and installing 2 pistons and rods i discovered the rods are striking the bottom of the cylinders, can hardly turn the crankshaft 90 degrees past TDC. I tried in vane to return the rods to Wossner and they refused warranty stating on the install instructions there may be additional machining required, not must, may, which is a total cover your azz document. Do not buy their product or you will be stuck "knotching" the bottom of your cylinders, which in my opinion is totally a hack way of installing something. They do not even give you the dimensions of how big a "knotch" you are going to have to remove, what a joke, just like their company moto Wossner "research and devolvement" laughable. I would have never purchased their product knowing I would have to grind or machine a "knotch" in the bottom of my cylinders, trying to give everyone else the heads up to not buy their product when there are other alternatives that bolt rite in. Supertech and ZRP are know to fit without issues
