I think one of the most important aspects of getting a car shipped in is getting a good reliable customs broker. I would suggest that you get your broker lined up and make sure that CBS form 5106 is filed as early as possible. you will need a broker for preclearance prior to shipping the Moke.
I have been through port of Baltimore 2 times in the last 8 weeks or so because of delays in booking through to Newark. no difficulties at all.
expect to pay for an escort(by the hr) to collect the moke at the port of Baltimore.
k line does allow limited items in the cars as stated by Bill.

Thanks! I gave him Emma's contact info and then Jamie Hill. The only downside for Emma is they don't do the UK transport, so that would need arranging too whereas Jamie hill does everything to get it onto the ship. Using Susan for the broker.

Thanks! When I picked up one of my Mokes in Galveston, my uber driver had a TWIC card, but they still required a paid escort.

For vehicles over 25 years old, an owner has the option of applying for antique license plates which eliminates to need for the annual vehicle inspections. By utilizing these plates however, the vehicle is considered "limited use" and can only be driven to and from special automotive type events such as car shows, club meetings, parades, repairs shops etc. These vehicles are prohibited from being used as daily drivers, although I see a lot of cars over 25 years old being driven on the road as daily drivers. My three LBC's are all over 25 years old and carry these antique plates. I have never been stopped by the police nor does the DMV require verification of the annual 2,000 mile rule.
Thank you!

Charlie Coker.. why do you NOT have TWIC card.? I have had one for about 12 years now.. saves lots of hasslee   and NO escort needed..  only cost  $125.25 and about an hour to get one.. accept at all 336 US ports.dido on getting proper US CUSTOMS broker.. most require a $50k bond.. which only costs $ 300 a year.. PHD.

A friend has purchased a 1990 Moke in the UK after getting it inspected earlier this week.  Car will be coming to Virginia. Virginia. VIN and Engine number match V5c.

Anything he should know about:

1) The pickup from Baltimore?
2) Registration in Virginia (We think no issues, no emissions, no safety test as over 25 years old)?
3) Anything else?

Also, it came with an extra set of wheels. Hard to transport from the UK as can't go with car.  Are the original wheels worth much, or shall we just leave them behind in the UK?
