Thank you, It is red, thought someone changed it to that. Was hoping there was an exact engine color spray bomb for it from the U.K. Guess I'll go for the Chevy orange/red color. Thanks for all the replies. 

Duplicolor Chevy orange/red (not to be confused with regular chevy orange) engine enamel is a pretty close match. Recently had a head rebuilt for an ERA turbo Mini. My local auto parts store had chevy orange, chevy orange/red, and chrysler red, and this was the closest of the 3. 

 make sure you get the high temp paint.. it is usually hidden in the back of the shelves..  merry christmas. bc  ps.. I prefer the crinkle   flat black. for my minis and mokes..

It's a orangey red. I haven't seen it on the rattle can shelves.  It's like VW Scirocco Mars Red of 1981.

I like the rustoleum apple red. It's very a very bright red. Lasts a long time. Certainly not the correct color.

Red block & head, bare aluminium for gearbox and clutch housing.

Hey all, new to the Mini world. Purchased a 1995 Mini Sidewalk edition in July. Right hand drive 4 speed. Love the car. Hate the cruddy paint colors under the hood. Does anyone know what the original engine color was? I want to pull the engine over the holidays and paint everything to factory colors. Someone went in there with a brush and paint and fudged it all up with some red paint. I'm thinking that's not the original color. Rest of the car is 9 out of 10 for originality.
