For some reason the posts after the original post on this thread don't show up when I open it. Anyway, all the planning and scheming are almost complete and I'm getting all kinds of swag stuff everyday. The committee is very excited to have you all come to Mini Meet West this year! But that means you have to register and buy your tickets. Remember early registration is almost over and the rate goes up on June 1st. If you register now not only do you save money, we can better plan for your entertainment. so please register now if you can!

The blocked out rooms at the host hotel, The Historic Santa Maria Inn, may be reserved, but the hotel will extend the special price for attendees as long as they have open rooms. So, don't think you can't come because you can't find a room.

Hope to see you all there and it's only about 4 1/2 weeks away!!!

This year you will most likely see one of the earliest Mokes made. It's a prototype car made to lure the British military into buying them for Jeep-like use. It didn't work out for BMC, but it did for the rest of us! And that's just the beginning of the fun!

You're talking about Rob Fram. Although his Moke is gone, as far as I know, he still has a 63 Austin Cooper.

you'll like this article I got from a member of the Vancouver (Canada) Mini Club who happens to own a really sweet MOKE himself.

https://silodrome.com/austin-mini-moke/?mibextid=Zxz2cZ&fbclid=IwAR2atFV7FwibMc4q2w-6fu_laCzSFIcepy3_bR8SjJPiYw6-VsfHAiB5fkY

Oh, do you remember the MOKE that sold on Bring a Trailer for $50,500 back around 2019 or so? It was a righteously restored example in a dark blood red color. It was built and owned by another member of the Vancouver Mini Club. He is a part of the team of restorers who do Pebble Beach cars at RX Autoworks in North Vancouver, Canada. One of their restorations, a 1937 Alfa Romeo took the Best of Show award at Pebble Beach in 2018. Amazing to think that his hobby cars are classic Minis!

I counted 10 MOKES at Kingston, WA last year! There were enough to have their own class instead of keeping them in the Variant class where my '72 Clubman saloon always ends up. FYI - I have never won any awards at a MMW but I don't go to win awards...it is for the adventure and trip to and from the event and for the many friends I have made over the years, from Canada and other states, who I might only see at a MMW.

We're expecting at least 100 participants so if you've never attended one make this your first. If have been before, I look forward to seeing you again or meeting you for the first time!

We look forward to you all joining us at MMW 2023. I'm on the MOASF organizing committee and will be responsible for the Rally portion that comes on Thursday of the week. The Awards Banquet at the Santa Maria Inn will be that night. I have some surprises planned for the participants that are not quite like what they did up in Washington last year or at Hood River or Santa Rosa (where I also did the Rally) or San Diego...

At MMW 2022 in Kingston, WA last July there were 10 MOKES. That is the most I have ever seen at a MMW.

MMWs are all inclusive. The reason you don't see a lot of MOKES is simply because there aren't a lot of them period. Plus you have to be a hardy individual to travel long distances in a MOKE (we drive to every event we attend - last summer for me, who lives in northern Marin County, MMW 2022 was a roundtrip of over 1900 miles!) You need to come join the fun at this event!

Oh by the way, not all the Minis that show up at Mini Meets are Coopers and Cooper S (MK Is & MK IIs). I have a classic Clubman saloon. These in many ways are even rarer here on the Left Coast, but MMW 2023 will be the 6th MMW I have attended with my Clubby (2013-Bend, OR; 2016-San Diego, CA; 2017-Santa Rosa, CA; 2018-Hood River, OR; 2022, Kingston, WA and this year Santa Maria, CA).

The first two I attended (2010-Penticton, BC, Canada & 2011-Lake Tahoe, NV) I was in my 2005 BMW MINI Cooper S. It was at Penticton that I decided I wanted a classic instead and bought one from a guy in Nottinghamshire, UK and imported to CA myself. I sold the BINI before the Clubman arrived.

I've attached the first MMW 2023 logo...it has since been enhanced by the designer, Dennis Santarinala, the MOASF Central Valley Rep

Yes. California may be the highest concentration of Mokes in the U.S. Even here in Washington at last years MMW, there were 5. Besides, with the Moke being quite possibly the "boiled down, most simple essence of the classic Mini", you'll be in very good company with no matter which Mini or MiniNut you come across. We'll look forward to seeing you there. Best, Mark - The MiniNut

I am more into Mini Mokes than Coopers. I looked at videos of other MMW of the past and there doesn't seem to be very many Mini Mokes that I can see. There mostly Mini Coopers. Is it worth going to this?

Very Cool! MOASF are the host club for MMW 2023, to be held at a famous historic Santa Maria Inn. See the newly minted web page (link below), Register, and Reserve a room. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Best, Mark
