That hindsight thing is wonderfully annoying sometimes.

Laughing at the 'Fear and Loathing' cat as your avatar. What a wacked out movie.

Simple recipe for Excitement:  Take 1 Classic Mini. Throw in 1590cc's of engine. Add 5 gears. A dash of 94 octane. A sprinkle of style inside and out. Toss in 1 MadMan and finally heat tires and pavement to taste. Recipe produces 1 Mini VTEC conversion and full satisfaction. Motor on!

I had a 1965 1071 S that I bought in the late 70's that I stuffed into a tree.  Car was in rough shape.  The PO had changed the 1071 to 1275 S engine with 4 synchro gearbox and I put it in a straight 1962 Cooper shell as I thought the 1965 could not be straightened.  Gave the shell away for free as the parents wanted it out of the garage.  I woulda shoulda coulda put the shell in storage and pursued getting it straightened.  Found the shell is now a race car with a Clubman front.

Back then I never thought these cars would command these prices.  Live and learn.

i hope it was restored. if anyone knows of it....it was a yellow car with black/yellow checkered roof. Fiberglass nose that was ripped off in the crash. the buyer also bought a blue 74 from me at the same time. this would have been in the early 2000's. i was deep into FV racing at the time.....selling everything i could to fund the racing program

Ouch...and Ouch

There always seems to be a car that we regret selling.

And to hit a bear in a classic Mini? Wow. Good thing you're around to tell about it.

Goes to show you that no matter the condition, a Cooper'S' will have value.

There was this one that was recently bid up to $41,275, but did not sell: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1968-morris-mini-cooper-s-mk-ii/

Then there is this one that sold today for $26,250!! Wow!: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-morris-mini-cooper/ This is wild. It's a project in need of some desperate love. Someone showed a lot of money-love on Valentine's Day for this hurting' unit. As wild as that is, I guess it's good to see that people are willing to keep Minis rolling. May end up seeing this one on BAT when it's all loved up.

Happy Mini-lovin' Valentine's Day
