hi 

i just brought a mini (08) 1.6l but when driven and i stop and get out the engine smells hot, i know of a few mates with mini's and notice that there fan continues to run on after engine off, i have yet to hear the fan run at all,   i want to test the fan   is the temp sensor in the rad that turns it on ?  i was thinking of shorting out just to make sure it is functional, and then go from there, maybe a new temp sensor check fuses etc if its not working. 

any help where to locate the temp sensor ?
