RHD is better than LHD for that - the column placement means everything is one pedal closer to the centre of the car in LHD.

My issue with the pedals on these cars are more or less that they aren't centered and in a weird position in relation to where you are seated. Throttle pedal is too far over,Or atleast mine is lol

In the 25 years Steve's been playing here, he's never posted a pic - some people just don't do technology.

Posting pictures is very easy. Just to the left and above the space where you typed in your message is a big green circle with the instructions on what to do.

If you are serious I have a 99 Sport Pac MPI converted to LHD SPI with air ( yes cold air ) just a hint it's white, power by Swiftune, trans by Coopertune, brakes and suspension by KAD new wheels and tires. New custom interior, Inno vent window doors. I don't post pictures but contact me with your cell and I'll give pics of anything you can think of. Steve (CTR)

How big are your feet ??

My 6' 7" friend Oli with his size 14 feet never had a problem, and I frequently drive wearing big steel-toecap boots without tripping over myself.

LHD you may be able to bend or fabricate new pedals, RHD you're fixed with what there is, but there's nothing off the shelf.

You know what they say about men who drive big vehicles; they are compensating for size. Not Mini drivers!

Like the pedals, you'll get used to it.

As a side note, if anyone comes across a super, super solid JDM Mini, please feel free to hit me up!  As recommended my my mechanic, I'm specifically looking for a manual trans, SPI, with all of the A/C parts in place even if it isn't working.

I appreciate all the advice!

I do indeed have a backup vehicle plus a good mechanic and source for parts.

I'm looking at a JDM Rover Mini with A/C.  Mechanic has had good luck getting them to stay cool in the engine bay and in the cabin!

I'm pretty comfortable sitting in them but my normal sitting posture is more of manspread, I'm just not comfortable pressing my legs together.

I've only sat in one for a couple of minutes, never driven one...but for those few minutes, what I mentally noted was that my legs were squished together. That's about the only thing giving me pause right now.

I've ruled out an automatic for reasons of frequent maintenance and the sharing of oil with the engine.  I live in a hot climate, so that extra heat in the oil won't work.

There's not much room to make a significant change. With normal male shoes on (i.e. not overly wide soles) you get used to the pedal locations, much like any other car. Kind of like a laptop computer VS a full sized keyboard. (My fingers are a bit "wide" for a laptop's keys but I have no trouble driving a Mini!). You'd get used to it.

The pedals are also conveniently located to do "heel and toe" braking - applying the brakes while applying throttle for a downshift.

As a daily driver they work OK, except for the absence (not lack) of modern creature comforts. It depends more on where you live (hot or cold climate), how long a commute, and how adept you are at doing your own maintenance and repairs. Bear in mind also the availability of parts. You most likely will need a backup vehicle.

Hey All,

I'm wonder if there is any products that can help spread out the pedals further from each other?  Is there even enough room to do that?

I'm contemplating using a JDM Rover Mini as a daily driver. After sitting in one, the most uncomfortable part was that the pedals are too close together.
