Quite do-able though. A mate replaced the roof on his Cooper by slicing through the 6 pillars on his car and the donor then joining them back up. Lots of people looked for the joins after the job was complete buy no one could pin it.

He was just a talented amateur .. Helicopter maintainer by trade ... so a time served specialist should not find it too hard.

Cheers, Ian

If, by roof, you mean a convertible top then have at it.

If you mean a steel roof panel, then you probably won't be successful.
The roof skin is roller/spot welded all around the gutter, and I don't see how you'd remove one without damaging it.  Equally, if you're intending on chopping the pillars and and transplanting the whole top section that too is fraught with alignment issues.

I'd suggest biting the bullet and getting a new skin.

Do you have local car shows?? Ask a local who they recommend.

You need a metal smith not a Mini specialist. The bits are readily available (from the UK). There are numerous "parts diagrams" that show how everything fits together. One of the best Minis I've seen was built by a guy who builds custom Harleys for a living.....
