Yep. King Charles isn't my first king either. I was about 2.5 years old when King George died.

Now get yourself a buggy whip

Then Google "buggy whip" - who knew they were a "thing" now, complete with LEDs.

Hi Dan,

I've got one of them (not the buggy whip), I used it for measuring Habasit and Eagle transmission "O" section belting, I'll have to dig it out and see how one of my old belts compares to the 813 dimension.

Thanks, Martin.

Martin: take a good used belt along on the trip as a spare and if you need to, you could take it to NAPA for comparison (?)

In the "old days" a garage would have a belt measuring device - two half pulleys on a scale. You'd hang the belt on the upper fixed pulley and pill down on the lower one. The scale would indicate the length and the position in the half pulley would give the belt width. (Now probably a collector's item along with buggy whips.)

Thanks Scooperman!

I have several good belts (one from our host) in my spares kit but they all have the GCB part number on. The reason I asked this question is that I plan to do a out of state trip later this year and if I needed to go to NAPA then I would like to give them a working number. Not a big deal as I have a new belt on the engine and a couple more newish ones as spares. I doubt that I'm going to go through 3 belts.

But thanks again.

Martin.

Edit: Thanks Scooperman for explaining the belt number derivation, I had no idea what the numbers meant, I thought they were entirely arbitrary. Martin.

10813 is nominally 10mm x 813mm, crossref equivalents may be a bit skinnier/wider or shorter/longer.  V-belts often have a part number in inches, in this case a nominal 15/32" wide 32" long belt is likely to have a part number ending in 15320.

There were A series variations in pulley size, generator or alternator, inline or transverse; the 10813 at 813mm is for Minis with small water pump pulley and alternator, you want to confirm your fit.

I find the NAPA search engine tiresome when I want a generic part and it wants make/year/engine info to drill down.  NAPA does list the 1970 Austin America water pump belt as 15330, longer than 33". The  Mini 32" belt also works as the air pump belt on 75 to 80 MGBs, and NAPA has a listing for that.   NAPA generic (no specific vehicle) search will find four belts listed as equivalents for "15320".

Hi I'm looking to cross reference the Classic Mini fan belt (GCB10813) to a NAPA part.

So far having no luck.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, M.
