Do you live near ?  Can you speak French ?

We need pictures, but in the UK it might be worth E1000 or so.

Has he got the carte gris ( the French ownership document ) ?  Without that its effectively a kit of parts.

If you get to talk money, see if he'll deliver for you as part of the deal.

Car engines make CO2 and trees absorb CO2. By running your engine you're feeding a tree and helping the environment.

Both of your questions are impossible to answer. The owner needs to put a price on it, and you need to know what you can pay. As far as cost to get it going, could be as simple as charging the battery to a complete rebuild. Ten years of sitting, I'd say at least a complete brake job, as well as a complete fuel system, that being said I've brought cars back to life after sitting 10 years or longer without having to do anything to them, but don't count on that happening. If the 16 year old son wants a father and son project, then it's priceless. The memories that would make, you can't put a price on. If the 16 year old son is expecting it to be his first car, then he might be disappointed if it takes years to get going. What's your location? Take pictures of it and post them here. Does it have a title? Lots to think about. Let us know what you decide.

It helps if we know where you are. This is mostly a USA based forum. Cost to get it back on the road depends on what you can get the missing bits for and what it needs. Photos would help with that.

ok so have found a 1984 mini in a french barn that has sat there happily in the dry for 10 years. Very little signs of corrosion and missing windows, seats etc but has got an engine - 998cc, and a full set of wheels. Farmer keen to sell it...what is it worth and how much to restore it. Looks like refurb rather than a full restoration. 16 year old son keen to get it going
