Freudian slip? (Or just big fingers like me?)

turns out the rocker cover was a bit "unflat" in that corner,

I cured it by using two rocker gaskest - one on top of the other now it's fine

Are you using any sealant or adhesive on the cork gasket? My preference is a non-hardening spray on adhesive that stays tacky. (Permatex Spray=a=Gasket)I spray it on both sides of the gasket and place it in the rocker cover. Then when it is set enough to not slide around, I place it on the head and Do up the cover bolts.

Never over-tighten the cover bolts. you want to do them up so they apply light and even pressure on the gasket and not compress it. Hardly, barely more than finger tight!

It is tricky to get the gasket to stay exactly in place without adhesive - they tend to squirm around, especially along the long sides. When you over-tighten, it makes them "squirm" more.

hello everyone

mine is a 1963 850 all standard

i have a consistent small rocker gasket leak at the heater take off end.

changed the gasket and cleaned the head surface and the rocker cover, new cork gasket, leaks in the same spot.  changed the gasket again, same result.  it seems to leak between the head and the gasket rather than between the rocker cover and the gasket.

have run out of ideas.  has anyone any advice?

thnx
