Just some Christmas fun. It started in my head and I decided to see how far I could go with it. I got to the "clatter" line just as the grader came up our street. Nice when karma works WITH you!

Twas the night before Christmas and out in the shed The Mini was sleeping, its battery was dead.

The driveway was covered in a foot of wet snow. The neighbour’s bright lights gave an eerie glow.

When out on the road there arose such a clatter: It was just a road grader making snowbanks much fatter,

Then what do my eyes see a ghostly red Moke Cresting a snow drift and belching black smoke.

The white-bearded driver caused it to stall And I knew in a moment t’was the ghost of BIG AL!

In his red suit he got out of the Moke and lifted the bonnet to free up the choke.

He brushed off the snow and dried the plug wires. Lowered the bonnet and checked on the tires

He clammered back in and gave it a crank It fired back up making smoke that stank.

The little 850 grumbled a bit Coughed through its SU and its cylinders lit.

He pulled in my driveway right over the drifts And dumped a big pile of well-wrapped gifts.

All in brown paper with MiniMania labels A locking gas cap and new handbrake cables?

He gave a big smile and shifted reverse. ('Twas only a Mini and not a big hearse.)

He backed out the driveway onto the road The Moke was now lighter without the big load.

I heard him exclaim as he faded from sight “Mini Christmas to all, and drive on the right!”
