Failing that, spray some compressed air in there to pop it off.  That's how I get motorcycle grips off and planters (buckets) my wife has got stuck together for years. (understanding you'll have air leakage around the button. (tape? nitrile glove?)_

Thank you, I appreciate the input.  I’ll use a hairdryer to heat it up. But that sucker is on there. It’s like he used super glue to make sure it didn’t slide off

It should just slide off.
Might be worth warming it up a touch.

 

If you can get it off in one piece try to do so as you may not like the chuckier walnut cover.

Short of cutting it off, is there a better way to remove the rubber from the parking brake arm? I'm replacing it with burl wood.
