the skid plate was one of the things that made me lean to the SMCO subframe. really liked seeing the jack points in the front.

expecting new cones will be needed when I have things apart. the car is quite low, lower than my previous mini, and it hurt me last fall.

visited a little car show in downtown and the railroad track crossing was more severe than I expected. caused a crack in the body, where the fiberglass met the metal

just so I have things centralized here, the following is a parts list for moving the steering wheel from the left to the right side of the car.

turn signal switch

wiper switch

steering rack with installation kit

the big list, with the almost free honda donor, is coming in just under 10k usd

Right on. One step closer. I'm sure you'll be happy with the result of the subframe. They are pretty innovative and detail orientated there at SMCO. And the bonus of having a skid plate already incorporated into the design is a major plus. I had one added to the McGee/Ulrich version that hinges down from the front lower bar. I've scraped that thing too many times already. So, good thing it's there. That Honda oil pan is too low to not protect it.

At least the swap going from RHD to LHD is somewhat easier by having the car already having the necessary holes to accept all the goodies needed to swap it, from the factory-build process. Just buy and add the parts. No major body mods and work to do. At least from what I've heard

.
Simple recipe for Excitement:  Take 1 Classic Mini. Throw in 1590cc's of engine. Add 5 gears. A dash of 94 octane. A sprinkle of style inside and out. Toss in 1 MadMan and finally heat tires and pavement to taste. Recipe produces 1 Mini VTEC conversion and full satisfaction. Motor on!

Email exchange with Stevenson motor Co and that will be my choice.

But first, will convert from rhd to lhd.

I know there is a list of parts somewhere, and will be searching for that tonight.

Adding to the parts list and starting to gather parts in the next few weeks.

I have the Ulrich/McGee subframe with a Z6. Chose that over the MiniTec due to not wanting coil overs. The MiniTec is coil over only. Or at least was at the time I was starting my project.

The Steveston version came out just after I powder coated the McGee/Ulrich one that I had already purchased. So it was too late to switch. Seems better in a few ways. Can't state anything from experience with Steveston's.

The McGee/Ulrich one works as far as it is. Does the job I guess. I had a skid plate added to it though. The Honda oil pan hangs real low. First point of contact if you run over something in that area. Steveston's has one incorporated into theirs already.

I probably would have went with the Steveston version if it was available at the time, before I purchased the other. They were working with McGee and have built several Mini/Honda conversions before using Mcgees subframe. Then they broke out and created their own. They took what worked and added to it. Features like being able to drop the engine out of the subframe without having to remove the entire thing, skid plate addition, etc.

i'm not a fan of RHD cars.

998 is well down on power, and I want Honda dependability and a power increase.
